Santiago: ‘I’m tired’

MANILA, Philippines – Despite her bravado and sharp tonque that can make mincemeat of her political adversaries, Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago admitted on Friday that she was “tired”.

“I’m tired. I’m tired of the world. I’m tired of my work. I’m tired of corruption. I’m tired of me,” Santiago told reporters Friday after attending the annual convention of the Association of Nursing Service Administrators Philippines (Ansap) at the Manila Hotel.

Speaking before the participants of Ansap, Santiago disclosed to her audience that she was still suffering from bone marrow disorder but only forced herself to attend the event.

Despite her condition, the senator never failed to entertain the participants with her “pick-up” lines.

May sakit ako sa puso because I’m always heart broken, when I see corruption,” she said.

Either I see you (ICU) or you see mo.”

And then addressing her audience, Santiago asked:  “What’s the best sexual position to create an intelligent charming and cute baby? Gusto nyong malaman [Do you want to know]?”

And when they answered yes, the senator said, : “Tanungin nyo ang magulang ko [Ask my parents].”

The following pick-up lines brought the house down:

Santiago repeatedly talked about her own death in relation to her fight against corruption.

“I have always wanted to die because I don’t hold my life valuable. Saan tayo nanggaling, saan tayo papunta?” she  said.

What’s the meaning of my life. So I’ve invented my own meaning, the meaning of my life is to fight the culture of corruption in the Philippines.”

“I’ve committed myself and that’s why I’m not afraid to die anytime. Patayin man nila ang character ko…patayin man nila ako  physically babalik ako at mumultuhin ko sila. Bantayan lang nyo, mamatay man ako ,papaaalam ko sa telebisyon para ma-TV ako,” she said.

Santiago also lamented the present state of politics in the country, pointing  out  how  good people have refused to enter politics lest they would end up  like other   politicians.
