Solon says Aquino ‘demonizing’ Arroyo

LUCENA CITY—A close ally of Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Tuesday said President Benigno Aquino is demonizing the former president through the media.

“Major newspapers and major networks are the wrecking crew of the incumbent administration especially as the 2013 election is approaching,” House Minority leader and Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez said on Tuesday.

He did not identify the media companies that he claimed have been helping demonize Arroyo.

The congressman said Mr. Aquino wants to depict Arroyo as “a really bad person.” He said Arroyo is not being given the chance to defend herself. “That’s the unfairness there,” he said.

Arroyo and Suarez are members of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats. Arroyo is currently detained at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City for a P366-million plunder case involving Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds.

During the campaign in Quezon of Team PNoy on Monday, Mr. Aquino again mentioned alleged irregularities and anomalies under the Arroyo administration.

Mr. Aquino described the life of Filipinos under Arroyo as one of “desperation and hopelessness.”

Suarez, a frequent visitor of Arroyo, said the former president is now in a “state of fear.”

“What lingers in her mind right now, and I can’t blame her, is fear,” he said.

According to Suarez, the former president no longer wants to speak on any issue, fearful of retaliation in the form of criminal charges.

“Remember, she is still sick of not an ordinary illness, plus the result of being confined for a long time,” Suarez said.

Arroyo had undergone surgery in her spine for cervical spondylosis, a deterioration of the bones in the neck that causes a misalignment in the spine. An implant was placed in a part of her neck to realign her spine but she continues to feel pain and has had difficulty swallowing food, according to doctors.

The courts have been throwing out cases against Arroyo one after another. On Jan. 17 the Supreme Court’s Third Division upheld the Office of the Ombudsman’s dismissal of a case against her over the alleged misuse of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) funds.

Last month, the Ombudsman also upheld the legality of the transfer of P530 million from the Owwa Medicare Fund to the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.

The Ombudsman also did not find anything irregular in the transfer of $350,000 from the Owwa Capital Fund to labor attachés in the Middle East during the invasion and occupation of Iraq by the US-led coalition in 2003.

good choice of word, Mr Suarez, you certainly know the best word to describe your ‘Boss’, but it’s YOUR own word, not anyone’s that I’ve heard of or read.

meanwhile, i hope the Ombudsman and the DOJ are really doing their best to prepare STRONG cases against her/GMA. We DON’T want her to win in the end and SUE the government for compensation. she has amassed wealth during her term illegally, we don’t want her to get millions again legally.

    • Elnore

You are right, I don’t know what is really happening sa mga cases ni GMA.  Hanggang sampa lang ng kaso and after that what happened?  The court of law in the Philippines is so like PAGONG, so BAGAL, so TAMAD!

      • Melvin

    • Estee Muri

The question is : They do not have any STRONG EVIDENCE against GMA…. Puro  pag bi-bintang lang. You see, cases after cases were thrown out  by the court for lack of evidence so I  want to ask you  DO YOU HAVE FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE  that GMA  really amassed wealth  during her term ILLEGALLY ? IF you do,  PLEASE, do NOT delay  AND step forward  AS A CREDIBLE WITNESS FOR THE  AQUINO GOVERNMENT . I want also to ask you… are you doubting yourself   that GMA   really amassed /steal money from the Filipino people?? Why are you afraid  that  GMA will win all her cases and sue AQUINO for  compensation and  will get milllions LEGALLY ? Seems you are doubting yourself of what you heard.  THEN  AGAIN… please if you have FIRST HAND  knowledge against GMA  and  ANY ANOMALY  SHE DID, step forward   AND  COMMIT YOURSELF UNDER witness protection   para matapos na  !!!1 Okay Parekoy ?//  You  are SAYING ???

Contrary to what GMA critics are saying, the former president seemed to be more blessed than anyone else in this country. Political analysts as well have failed to realise the Providence factor. During the campaign period of 2004 the late senator Raul Roco was diagnosed with ailment; FPJ and Lacson did not give way as the plan to merge forces did not materialise; the Hello Garci expose did not work favorably for the oppositions as the death of FPJ happened before this expose; Bro. Eddie Villanueva’s god’s calling did not work either. GMA won cheating or otherwise. Whose calling was that anyway? GMA haters called her a little devil but it seemed God loves her. Charges against GMA  are being crossed out by the courts. She was in a hospital resting and still could afford to party. She is at peace eating all her favorite delicacies. She also enjoys her music there with her loved ones and grand children. Some people say it was Karma. I don not think so.

  • richard ortega

demonize a demon…. tsk  tsk   tsk!   KARMA  to her and coming to you

  • Elnore

“Demonizing”?  I don’t think that’s the right word.  Since Pinoys have this habit of easily forgetting the bad deeds of the previous administration, we have to be reminded time and again of Arroyo’s mess the previous years.

  • luzviminda88

What demonizing are you blurting about Suarez, read these countless comments here and you’ll finf out that the Filipino people are the ones demonizing arroyo since truly she’s a demon. ha ha ha

  • Melvin

Demonizing?

  • jga94

Suarez, alam mo kung walang iota of truth yung mga binibintang sa kanya….it (bad image of Gloria) would not have caught on….remember, when PNoy was still running for president, a lot of efforts were made to put him in a bad light….the worst of which was this alleged report of his psychological “instability”…plus of course the hacienda Luisita issue….and yet he won convincingly… just goes to show that —despite some incidences which depict just the opposite, the Filipino populace is learning to be more discerning on which issues to give credence to….

Bakit ba pilit ibinabalik sa eksena nila si Gloria…..anything new this Suarez has to say….nothing, just opinions of no consequence….sayang lang webspace…..

  • aristeosj

you really do not need to ‘demonize’ GMA.

  • boybakal

    • Ngiping Dilaw

  • Uwe24

As of all my knowledge from the Arroyo-time a demon is to nice compared to her, her husband and her allies.
So, please stop insulting the poor demons.
Look at all the mess left by her administration. She sold the Philippines to fill up her pockets.

  • JuanTamadachi

Yup, Dorovo was/is a demon, a devil in disguise. She cannot be demonized any further.

  • whyinthisworld

Suarez and gloria and their cohorts should have been jailed long time ago had our court and other government officies concerned are really working hard triple time to indict them. The kind of suarez, a shameless representative of quezon is making a lot of iron shield to protect his master who gave him millions of money courtesy of the filipino people.

  • Maldi2

GMA is a sacrificial lamb for this inefficient government.

    • Ngiping Dilaw

  • PinoyPinoyako

Mr Suarez majority of Filipinos (if not all) know the corruption she did (and by her family) when she was in power
, so we know she is a Demonya and reincarnation of the devil,,, hindi ba isa ka sa kanyang mga demonyong alagad?

  • Rolly257

  • boyboy9797

I believe that’s the real character Pnoy has against CGMA considering the fact that he’s been doing that since his election and i think he will continue that style until his term end for survival tactic. But look at his performance which seems to me it’s hardly to describe if there’s really growth as this administration claimed.
