Aquino shrugs off junking of 3 common candidates by UNA

President Aquino on Thursday shrugged off the junking of common senatorial candidates Loren Legarda, Francis Escudero and Grace Poe by the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

“From Day One, we’ve embraced these three candidates wholly. Figuratively ha, figuratively. We’re not saying anything on what UNA wants to do. We’re in a democracy; that’s up to them,” the President told reporters in Iloilo City in an interview aired over government-run radio.

Regardless of UNA’s move, Aquino said he and his 12 handpicked candidates were busy campaigning.

“We believe that our candidates will push for our agenda. Remember, they have six years’ term, so even by the time that I stepped out of office these are the people who can continue the transformation of our country,” he said.—TJ Burgonio

Team PNoy is complete. United Nakaw Alliance already lost not even half way to the race.

  • lucidlynx

Let’s vote for all 12 senatorial candidates of Team PNoy so that regardless who our next president is going to be, progressive reforms don’t get derailed.

  • bbguevara

The trios rejection of UNA is reflective of the inferior quality of its senatorial line-up and the corrupt reputation of the party leaders.

  • NelsonBagatsing

its nice to see that pnoy is kind to the 3. compared to UNA

  • ClaudineBeretta

    got it figuratively hehehehe

  • InaLorenzo

at last we can now focus on the platforms :)

i agree! sana we can really move to more important things than everyone just bickering :)

  • CarlosAcantillado

    UNA’s loss..

  • ApoLapullapu

The junking by UNA does not really matter.  The President is in full control of government resources.  He can use them to the fullest for the campaign of his candidates.  And the three did not intend to campaign with UNA in the first place.  What can they get there?  UNA may have the money but it does not have the power.

What is important is the candidate’s platform, his agenda and what is his/her reason for seeking office. We had enough senators who done nothing but sit quietly and count the lizards in the ceiling.

Enough of this non-sense politicians who seek office to enrich themselves. Choose a better candidate for a better Philippines.

Just don’t vote for Enrile, JV and Binay- They only aimed for one thing to protect their personal interest.

    • wawa2172

He he he…bakit may matino rin ba sa LP? All politician are of the same kind..it is all about power and money…service to madlang people is not a priority. PNoy and VPBinay are not exempted, they are campaigning  heavily for their candidates using peoples money. It will a joke if the two will claim that they are spending their own money when they join the campaign.

      • Handiong

So, I take it to mean that you will not be voting. Why bother to comment at all, then?

      • ApoNiLolo

Baka nag hahanap ng kasama sa “boycott”. >: D

      • wawa2172

I will vote for Koko and Migz who are from Mindanao. The issue is mayroon bang matinong politico, I stand with my answer na wala. Koko and Migz are not perfect but I am hoping na maambunan nila nang pork barrel ang mga projects for the island.

The former mayor now( Vice President)was charged in 2006 for allegedly bypassing the bidding procedure in favor of Office Gallery International Inc.

Binay was questioned over the anomalous purchase of office fixtures and furniture for the new Makati City Hall from private contractor Office Gallery International from December 1999 to February 2000. The contract was allegedly overpriced by P3.6 million.

A FORMER whistleblower in high-profile graft corruption controversies turned-head of government’s financial watchdog yesterday linked the wife of Vice President Jejomar Binay, an incumbent and several former Makati City officials to alleged deception in the public bidding for a Php72.06 million supply contract awarded by the city government in 2001.

Senator Enrile gives out public money to senators

Enrile gave a whopping bonus of 1.6 million pesos each to 18 senators last Christmas. It is interesting to note that rather than hand over unused funds back to the treasury, Enrile saw it fit to distribute the so-called “savings” to Senate employees as a personal gift. According to the same report, even drivers and security personnel in the senate got bonuses ranging from 50,000.00 to 120,000.00 pesos.

  • ztefertilizerscam10

Enrile’s only son Jackie Enrile was a notorious killer who killed several people including alfie anido.
Let us also not forget about Tito Sotto’s involvement in the Pepsi Paloma and Guada Guarin 1982 rape scandal.

There is an 800 pound gorilla in the room that nobody wants to talk about… climate change and how it is devastating the southern Philippines, causing immense suffering. The media has paid too much attention to UNA’s BS and not enough on the platform of the candidates on how they will address the looming crisis of the hundreds of thousands of displaced people, the loss of agriculture, the rebuilding of infrastructure with these ominous factors in mind, the health and malnutrition issues that has arisen from these events, etc. PAGASA claimed in late December that the storm season has ended, but instead there has been powerful storms one after another. Luzon is now seeing the effects of this climate change as well, and it looks very scary. Let’s cut the superficial crap, and get down to some serious discussion about what actions must be taken to relieve the suffering of the people, and what must be done to stem the rise of the destruction brought about by this unpleasant ‘climate change’.

    • catmanjohn

One more thing.. it seems that UNA’s Enrile is more interested in visiting his smuggled cars than visiting all those families affected by the floods. Its speaks volumes for UNA and their vile leader Enrile. All these cars everywhere, and nowhere to go…

My unsolicited advice for Rep. Teddy Casino is to remain an independent candidate. What I mean is he should stay away from any political party that tries to adopt him. In this way, voters (partisan and non-pastisan) will have the chance to vote for him. Besides, his being a political rebel will be tarnished if someone dictates upon his will what to do if he wins the senatorial post.
