First ACY pulls off shocking victory
FIRST ACY Shipping registered the upset of the tournament so far as they stopped their five-game losing streak at the expense of the heavily favored Las Vegas KTV/M16 Disco ’94, 46-44, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Friday night at the CEC Gym.
And to complete what was an evening of surprises, the struggling JV Shop N Shop ’97 dominated Jepoy ’99 with a 60-49 win.
Junwynn Dy stepped up with 19 points on top of seven rebounds, three assists and three steals as
he almost singlehandedly carry Class 2006 to its first victory of the season.
The turning point happened early in the game as ’94 managed just four points in the first period.
Jason Jao posted a season-high 11 points that went along with six rebounds and two assists but his big night was spoiled as Class ’94 suffered its third loss in seven games.
In the other game, Aubrey Jones Ibones tallied a season-best 16 points, three rebounds and three steals as Class ’97 scored its second win in five starts. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
