CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines—At least one person was killed while four others were wounded by a grenade explosion followed by a burst of gun fire at a village in the municipality of Baungon in Bukidnon on Monday night, a report from the Baungon police office said Tuesday.
The fatality was identified as Ramil Blanila. The names of the wounded victims, who were rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center here, were not immediately available.
The Baungon police said initial investigation showed that while a group of men were playing billiards outside the house of Orly Puklawan in Barangay (village) Balintad, another group arrived, with one of the newcomers lobbing a grenade and another strafing the house.
The police said a follow up investigation was still on going to determine the identities and motive of the perpetrators, but the initial theory was that a grudge involving one of the victims could be the reason for the attack.
