Bisdak Pride holds queer writing competition

THE Bisdak Pride Inc., a group dedicated for the advancement and protection of persons of diverse sexual orientation and gender identity, announced the opening of its 2013 writer’s competition.

As part of our Queer Culture program, we will choose 20 creative writers to be included in our collection of queer stories. What better way to start the month of love is to write stories, Bisdak Pride said in its press statement.

The competition is open to all Cebuano speaking individuals, regardless of gender, sex, age and economic standing in life.

Stories include, but not limited to health, gender and sexuality issues, family and relationships, love and hate, religion and human rights.

The Bisdak Pride accepts entries until Feb. 28. Mail submissions must be postmarked Feb. 28 to be eligible for screening.

Applicants may submit eight poems, a short story or a one-act play in English or Cebuano.

Chosen entries will be showcased during the group’s eighth anniversary celebration this year.

Entries must be typed double spaced in Arial font size 12 with 1” margin on all sides, and must be submitted to the following address: Queer Writers Competition, Bisdak Pride Inc., c/o Good Shepherd Welcome House, #29 Mabini Street, Cebu City or through e-mail at bisdakpride@yahoo.com.
