Fun run with a twist

What do runners think about while running? “Takbo para kay Sta. Teresa,” a Carmelite-organized fun run, also billed as “Takbo Ko, Dasal Mo,” will see running enthusiasts praying for others while sweating it out on the streets.

Set on Feb. 3, the fun run will begin with a 6 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine Parish on Broadway corner 5th Street, New Manila, Quezon City. Runners will have in their armbands a slip of paper containing other people’s prayer intentions which they will take to heart during the fun run.

When they cross the finish line, they will drop in a huge box the prayer slips, which will be prayed over by Carmelite Sisters for a whole month.

Runners may take the full 5km challenge or go for either the 3km run or 3km walk. Registration goes on every Sunday at the Mt. Carmel Shrine.
