Pregnant teen dies after getting run over by SUV

MANILA, Philippines—A pregnant teenager was killed after she was ran over by a sports utility vehicle in Quezon City before dawn Monday, police said.

Field Investigator Edgardo Eujenio identified the victim as Danica Valbueno, 15, who was declared dead on arrival at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center after she was hit by Valeriado Ponce, 55, in front of Commonwealth Market around 1 a.m.

Eujenio said Valbueno was crossing when she was hit by Ponce with his Nissan X-Trail Waggon (OIQ 777).

“Hindi naman over speeding pero hindi lang talaga sya napansin ni Ponce. Huminto naman sya at tinakbo sa hospital yung bata,” Eujenio said, but added that the driver was, nonetheless, taken into custody.

Radio reports said Valbueno was a month old pregnant.

The case was placed for further investigation.
