Fire razes Cavite factory


CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna—Fire engulfed a factory of polystyrene products in General Trias, Cavite, on Wednesday afternoon, local authorities said.

The fire started at 3:30 p.m. in an industrial building in Barangay (village) Manggahan, according to Fire Officer 1 Rolando Sarmiento of the Cavite Bureau of Fire.

As of this writing, 14 fire trucks from various municipalities were deployed to put out the fire that had reached fifth alarm.

The factory, whose name was not readily available, contained “Styropor materials,” according to Senior Supt. Alexander Rafael, Cavite police director.
