/ 10:44 PM January 21, 2013

A van carrying P5,000 worth of chicken meat was hijacked by several men on Sunday morning in Parañaque City.

Driver Ronquillo C. Destacamento reported that five men armed with guns on a Toyota Corolla without any license plate seized his white Isuzu freezer van with plate number NQE 640 at 3:45 a.m. on East Service Road in San Martin de Porres.

Destacamento and his unidenrified helper had parked their van in front of Bicutan market when the car stopped in front of their vehicle, the driver told the police. Five men alighted from the car and, at gunpoint, ordered them to get out of the truck, he added.

The men then gagged him and his helper and dragged them into the car as some of the armed men boarded the van. Destacamento said that he and his helper were later told to get out of the car at a dimly lit area on C-6 Road going to Taguig.

The Parañaque police said they were conducting follow-up operations to recover the stolen van and its cargo.—Noli A. Ermitanio
