MANILA, Philippines—A live-in couple was arrested after allegedly conspiring to sell a suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu,” to a poseur-buyer in General Santos City, a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) official said Wednesday.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspects as Bienvenido Campus, 43, a habal-habal (motorcycle for rent) driver, and his live-in partner Merlina Morales, 43, a factory worker.

He said Bienvenido and Morales were arrested last Monday after they agreed to meet up with an antinarcotic agent in a bakeshop along the National Highway in Barangay (village) Calumpang. Cacdac said the two were arrested after they handed over the shabu to the undercover agent.

“The couple yielded a total of five grams of shabu with an estimated value of P35,000, one unit of XRM Honda motorcycle with plate number QN 2059, and the P1,000 marked money used during the transaction,” Cacdac said.
