Provincial police chief clueless on ‘jueteng’ angle in Quezon shootout

MANILA, Philippines—Reacting to reports that the illegal numbers game “jueteng” had something to do with the alleged shootout in Quezon province on Sunday, which killed 13 persons including three policemen and three soldiers, the highest police official of Quezon province said Tuesday that he had no idea of the angle.

“Wala tayong alam sa angle na ’yan, hindi tayo privy,” Quezon provincial director, Senior Superintendent Valeriano de Leon said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer. De Leon was asked about the alleged jueteng money that the group was said to be transporting during the gun battle along Maharlika Highway in Atimonan, Quezon, last Sunday.

Without mentioning exact figures, De Leon said there was some money recovered from the suspects after the incident, “pero hindi gano’n kalaki.”

Kelan pa nag kautak ng maayos ayos ang mga pulis sa atin? Kaya nga pulis lang ang inabot eh.

    • manong_edwin

Although meron talgang mga “bad eggs” sa PNP, pero wag naman natin i-generalize ang ganitong judgment sa mga pulis…there are a lot of our policemen who are really sincere, dedicated and honest sa kanilang pagiging pulis…nakakalungkot lang talaga that ang mga masamang itlog sa PNP are giving bad image to the whole institution.

  • yonoh

Ano ba yan!

  • Your_King

Clueless! That pretty much sums up Filipino leadership in the country. As much as i don’t want to generalize, it’s true.

    Hmmm… Rubout or shootout?

One need to see facts at the situation. They say its a 15 mins shootout how come if you look closely to the incident the side window and front windows are filled with bullet holes. is it a surprice attack or what.  We could see that some of this men are with millitary ranks that have extensive trainings in thier field is it fair to understand that all this men are dead on there side and on the PNP checkpoint side only the head Supt. Hansel Marantan got hit?…. if I am in the van and ready have weapons at hand then I have upper hand to surprise my enemy and if I am in the check point then I will be the one who will stop the vehicle and put holes in the van and kill the remaining so that no one will tell a tale … so who hit first,.. a question to ask or is it.

    Hope justice will prevail.

Nasan ngayon si Trillanes na ka mista mista niya mga to.  Remember the words uttered by those who took classes in that school up in the mountains:  “I will never cheat, lie, or steal or tolerate those who do.”  Tell that to the marines.  Don’t tell us that as a commander, you don’t know what your intel dude knows?  What kind of a commander or a leader are you?  Better ,yet is that what your school taught you about leadership?  Kanya kanyang operation, este, raket pala, ba ssseeeeer?  Amlayer, ayer!

  • Jaime
