MANILA, Philippines—Justice Secretary Leila De Lima is set to create a special team to investigate the Atimonan, Quezon ‘shootout.’

At a press conference Tuesday, De Lima said she is waiting for a clearance from President Benigno Aquino III before she creates the body.

“The families of those slain are seeking DoJ assistance to conduct a special probe and I am inclined to create a special team of NBI investigators and DoJ Prosecutors to do its own probe,” De Lima said.

“We cannot blame the families of the victims na mag-duda (to have doubts) [because] PNP is involved and they are also conducting the investigation,” she added.

During the ‘shootout’, 13 people were killed including a ranking police official, two other police officers and three members of the military.

There must be neutral people also outside of the government just like human rights to be part of the investigating team to really get to the heart of the matter without any doubt of whitewash

With the upcoming election, checkpoints will be everywhere. Queztion is, who’ll check the checkpoints. Its eery they’re too powerful esp at night. Can’t believe they kill their own men. Pity the officers who died they made lapses in judgment. This is what they should’ve done bec life and combat are involved here and they’re commanders also: conduct surveillance of checkpoint approach, order men take positions around checkpoint at striking distance, then proceed not convoy with car of low-keyd men, if fired, order commence firing simultaneously. Its combat, isnt it

Not again. DOJ’s Leila de Lima has a knack for bungling cases and screwing things up. She whitewashed the Dacer-Corbito murder case and set Michael Ray Aquino free. She is now having cold-blooded killer Rolito Go to file a case against his victim’s family (the Maguans) for allegedly kidnapping Rolito despite Rolito’s impending death. She lied about the true cause of botanist Leonard Co’s death until CHR Eta Rosales contradicted her and called out her lies. She bungled the case against the Reyes brothers and denied the Ortega family justice. She tried to cover up the DOJ sex video scandal because the unfaithful husband is a DOJ prosecutor and the other woman is the daughter of LTFRB James Jacob and Court of Appeals Justice Marie Christine Azcarraga-Jacob, both Pnoy appointees. She was castigated by the Senate and the Congress for her negligence in stopping the pyramid scam. Months ago, she allowed the Panamanian rapist to leave the country. Even her brods in San Beda could not stop themselves from disclosing to the media how Sec. de Lima went easy on the higher ranking leaders of the frat in the hazing case.

This is a welcome opinion and best hoping it materializes. If the PNP would investigate their men alone, a quid pro quo leading to camouflage of truth is mostly observed so this action of de lima is a deterring factor to the suspicion of cover up.

number? Saan sila papunta at ano ang pakay bakit maraming baril silang
dala? Yan ang dapat na tanong. Hindi yong rub-out angle agad.

  • disqusted0fu

Yadda, yadda, yadda… Its all talk. This will probably be just like the special team Sec. De Lima assigned to handle extra judicial killings, nothing is happening.

This might help,  find the third SUV!!!!

That is very unprofessional. Sad.
