The Film Academy of the Philippines which holds office in Quezon City was established on Jan. 5, 1981, by virtue of Executive Order No. 640-A. Created to promote, preserve and develop the motion picture art and science of the country, one of its principal functions is to give awards and recognize the artistic and technical works in the movie industry. – Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
