3 killed as car hits stalled truck in Ecija highway

SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ–Three persons died while three others were hurt when their car hit a stalled truck along the highway in Barangay (village) Bantug Curva here early Sunday, police said.

Reports said Ryan dela Vega, 23, the driver of the Mitsubishi Galant, and one of his passengers, Freska Castro, a sophomore student of the Central Luzon State University here, died instantly from the collision at 1 a.m. Sunday, while Mary Rose dela Vega, 23, died in a hospital in Cabanatuan City. Their three companions – Rowena dela Vega, Analyn Valdez and another identified only as Hazel – were hurt and taken to a hospital in Cabanatuan.

A police report said the victims, who came from San Jose City and were on their way home to Talavera town, hit an early warning device before slamming into the rear of the truck loaded with palay. – Anselmo Roque, Inquirer Central Luzon
