4 killed, 2 injured in Quezon road mishaps
QUEZON—Four persons were killed, including three pedestrians and one motorcycle rider, while two suffered serious injuries in two separate road accidents in Infanta, Quezon, police said.
PO2 Benito Nevera, Infanta police investigator, said two motorcycles collided before dawn on New Year’s Day in Barangay Dinahican.
One of the drivers, Jerrymil Romantico, was killed in the collision while the other motorist, Glenmar Gache, suffered serious injuries.
Quoting villagers, Nevera said Romantico and Gache often engaged in a racing contest along the highway.
On New Year’s Eve, three pedestrians were killed and one suffered serious injuries when a speeding van hit them in Barangay Gumian, also in Infanta.
Nevera identified the fatalities as Kevin Formentero, 19; Jerick Villaflor, 20; and Edmund Victorino, 20, who were walking on the road side when a Hyundai van (plate No. BEG-322) ran into them.
The three died in the hospital. Another victim is in critical condition. Nevera said the van driver, Ferdinand Manuel Burgo, surrendered to police and is now detained in Infanta. Delfin T. Mallari Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
