Aquino: ‘We need tighter unity’

President’s message: Vote for right leaders

The President, who begins the second half of his term in July, said this year would be a “critical stage” for the administration’s crusade for long-term development and good governance.

“This New Year, a tighter unity is needed. I expect that our people will be more critical in choosing the leaders that they will elect,” President Aquino said in his New Year’s message. “It is these leaders who will respond to the call of an honorable and truthful public service. It is these leaders who will nurture the reforms that we have sown.”

That was why, Mr. Aquino said, it was important for Filipinos to decide which direction the country should take. He then spelled out the choices for the electorate.

Acknowledging that 2013 would be a crucial year for economic growth and good governance, President Aquino on Sunday aired this New Year’s wish for Filipinos: Vote for the right leaders in the Senate.

“Are we paddling together toward the same path where the welfare of Filipinos is paramount? Or should we let our country be swept away by the waves of greed, individualism and corruption?” he said.

Administration candidates

The administration is fielding 12 senatorial candidates in the midterm elections in May, and the President vowed to campaign for them to ensure their election in the chamber headed by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, one of the political opposition’s three stalwarts.

Malacañang managed to draw the support of many senators in a crucial vote to oust Chief Justice Renato Corona, seen by Mr. Aquino as a stumbling block to his reform agenda, in late May last year for culpable violation of the Constitution over his nondisclosure of assets.

Scary moment

The administration’s priority legislation, including the sin tax and the reproductive health bills, faced rough sailing from some senators, led by Enrile, before these were approved on final reading. The President signed these into law last month.

Malacañang had its scary moment when the Senate voted by a slim 10-9 to ratify the bicameral conference committee report on the sin tax measure in what was supposed to be a mere formality.

This has underlined the need for the administration to get more allies elected to the Senate to push for its own legislative agenda.

After a year of trials and triumphs, the President said the country would greet the New Year with firmer hope and confidence that the coming years would be more meaningful in the path toward truthful and good governance.

Where before, tons of rice rotted away in warehouses, the country is looking forward not only to becoming rice self-sufficient but also to exporting quality rice this year. Where before, the country was short of 66,800 classrooms, there is now sufficient rooms, chairs and tables, and books for students, he said.

Series of good news

Long dubbed the “sick man of Asia,” the Philippine economy expanded robustly in 2012, posting a 7.1-percent growth in the third quarter, the highest in Southeast Asia, Mr. Aquino said.

Mr. Aquino ticked off the other good news: The all-time high posted by Philippine stocks; the signing of a preliminary peace agreement with Moro rebels; the electrification of far-flung sitios in the countryside; and the congressional approval and enactment into law of the RH and sin tax measures.

“2012 has been a year of trials and triumphs. We’ve encountered potholes; there were those who attempted to block our positive steps. Yet our mission to right a crooked system and improve the country’s condition prevailed,” he said.

“From leveling the scales of justice to standing shoulder to  shoulder in the face of the wrath of nature, we’ve shown to the whole world that as long as we’re ready to do what is right and sacrifice for others, as long as we’re paddling together in the name of the country, there is no dream that is unreachable,” he said.

Just the start

“This is just the start. Truth to tell, the only thing that could limit the heights that we could reach is our own ambition. Cooperation, [along with] trust, is the key to success,” he continued.

The President concluded with a wish for 2013: “Let’s carry on our tradition of bayanihan. By linking arms together, let’s walk together toward a bright and prosperous future for our country.”

The A team of 3 Musketeers..Abad, Mar and Noy. May I ask when Noy gave the 1M goodwill money to MILF may tax ba? Kung wala its unfair? Nung binayaran ni Noy ang bail ni Padaca with his own money, kasali na ba don ang VAT? Kung wala its unfair. Grreat job so far Tax Men.

  • wawa2172

Yes! My wife miss the day when government employee bonuses are not tax. As an example even the productivity enhancement bonus may tax na. During the previous presidents ( I purposely did not mention GMA because LP is so allergic to her) walang taxes ang bonuses. The governent is saying that malaki ang sweldo may tax. After years of being productive and having a Ph D with published reseaches, extension service etc, she would be tax sa lahat nang bonuses she deserved to receive. Yes, that is how the three musketeers Abad, Noy and Mar think.. bigay-bawi but ang laki nang amount na ibinalita sa media. The 10K of GMA then (7K from the government and 3K from savings) is now only 5K but mas maliit dahil sa taxes. So you want tigther unity, go for LP lahat nang bagay may tax. Baka pati pag gumamit tayo nang public toilet di na 2 Php ang umuhi,,10 Php na kahit ang hirap huminga sa public rest rooms maintained by the LGU’s. Unity for big taxation.

    • http://twitter.com/akongednamzug akongednamzug

      • wawa2172

Maliit na tax na ibinabayad ko, sorry but my tax is used to subsidized your luxury. Saan napunta yung tax ko, a small percentage was use to pay goodwill money of 1M to MILF courtesy of Noy, pay the bail of Padaca which Noy got I am sure from his disctrtionary funds na part nang tax ko, yung gasolina na nag papatakbo nga government vehicles at yung pang snack sa mga meeting nila. Pang press release lang pare for election purposes. Thanks for endorsing Binay as president who would exempt bonuses of government employees from taxes.

    • KapitanBagwis

You are still lucky in the Philippines. Retirement pensions are not taxed like in USA

Tax for bonus if sum annually reaches 30K are really taxable since time immemorial. Check your facts! tanga!

      • wawa2172

Thanks for being polite and calling me by name. I am working in a private company and I trust our accountants with regards to taxing my earnings. My wife is working for the government and she is not the only one complaining about the taxes on their productivity enhancement bonus na 5K. If I were to consider the amount of the bonus I won’t mind it dahil presyo lang nang kaliwang sapatos ko ito. But I learned that a lot was complaining about it and here is the fact: Such bonus which use to be 10K noon na naging 5k ngayon was not tax by GMA admin then and buo na naibibigay sa kawani nang gobyerno.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/QC63IPEO7KIZZ3CW7WYWGDL7IU Legaspi

Well, based in your comment I am happy that there were no exemptions now.. hahaha.. Private & Goverment employees should be taxed the same way!!! Ungas! I am working in a private multinational company and I am not complaining about my tax (its my duty to the state), as long as I trust the government who handles the state finances!!!

      • joshua kings

hala dalawang nagpipitaganang worker sa MNCs nagkaka-ungasan, naggagaguhan at nagtatangahan!  kakatawa, hihihi!

      • wawa2172

Kaya pala di mo alam na may mga bonuses na walang taxes sa panahon ni GMA ay nag tatrabaho ka pala sa multinational company, same with me but I never call any person with  names..ikaw pa lang. Tanga Ka Pala..I don’t get mad I just get even. Whoever is with the government I am sure to be tax being with private company. My wife is a state employee and is asking why Noy have to tax bonuses that were free of tax in the previous admin. I am working in an american company which is among the top 100 taxpayers in the country Kaw baka chinese owned ang company mo. They are known to be poor tax payer…kagaya mo..gago!!! he he he

Mr. President, don’t worry about the disunity brought about by the RH Bill  struggle and now the efforts on your part to go after corrupt local executives. In the first place, unity with Padre Damaso and now with the people trying to ride on the Garcia and Espino controversies is not possible and in the second place, we can go ahead despite their opposition.

Forge ahead, Mr. President. You do not need the support of people who do not have the welfare of the nation but just their selfish interest and ambition in mind.

    • joshua kings

yep, “forge ahead” to your perdition, pnoy.

my question is: are the LPs paddling in snyc??…don’t tell me that LP leaders are not greed, crooks and corrupt!!….don’t pretend to be blind and deaf, mr. president when it comes to your KKK and your party…i still believe that you are under the grips of some of your KKKs, otherwise, there would have been a lot of investigations on your cronies and party members…i think, mr. president, you ONLY see what you want to see, and look the other way when it comes to your friends and party …be fair, and you might even surpass the legacies of your parents (though there ain’t much to talk about it)…..btw, how is your friend puno doing???…is he being investigated?…KKK mo kasi, ano?…see, this alone is enough to prove that your guts is in limbo when it comes to your friends…or are these people got something on you that you are afraid someone might divulged it to the public?….i have nothing against you, nor do i admire you either, i just go for your straight path, which, for now, looks like a curve all the way around….somehow, you look no different from the seasoned politicians….promises…

Do not pretend you speak for all Filipinos, because you clearly are in the minority.

I haven’t yet seen an opinion poll where P-Noy’s ratings have gone below 50%, so you’re clearly wrong, right off the bat.

P-Noy hasn’t been perfect, but he’s been a sight better for the country than his predecessors, and under him actual progress has been made: the RH Bill and K-12 have been passed, there is peace (mostly) in Mindanao, and the FoI bill should soon get through Congress, and in addition to the booming economy I challenge you to try and justify ANY post martial law presidents having accomplished more in 2.5 years than that.

Skepticism of a president is fine, being a crab is not.

Oh my gee!!! For a long, long time, we have a president who is very serious in eradicating corru//ption, but translated upon by his critics as revenge against his political opponents.

Incidentally, his opponents are despised by the people for giving this country the tags most corrupt country in SE Asia, the 2nd most corrupt in Asia, one of the most dangerous countries for Journalists, one of the most notorious violators of human rights and many more embarrassing  labels and yet his opponents, for 9 years, they saw nothing wrong with her governance and still hailed her as heroin instead of a heel.

I’m at a loss where their brains, if there are any, are located, it could be under the toes.

For the first time in many years (definitely, not within the 9 years preceding this administration), the global business community is seeing a different Philippines able to compete with the rest of the world because it is led by an incorruptible president.  Its prognosis for the coming years is very encouraging and yet his opponents are seeing none of those.

For the first time in many years, we have a president who is regarded as the most trustworthy president ever with 80% positive rates, halfway of his term while GMA got negatives rates in all her 9 years of illegal presidency and yet his opponents see none of those.

I don’t know whether you’re numb but the situation today is a complete turnaround of what it was 3 years ago. The election in 2013 will awaken your senses for it will be dominated by candidates endorsed by Pnoy, the most honest president ever.

For the country to move forward & become a first world country, we should have less or totally none of the Estrada’s, Enrile’s, Marcose’s, Binay’s & Arroyo’s in governance.

Enrile should be in jail as architect of the martial law regime, the Marcose’s should return all their billion dollar loot, the Estrada’s together with the Binay’s should stop pretending they are for the poor & the Arroyo’s should be kept in the National Bilibid prison for all the sins they’ve committed while in power.

As long as these people are around, our country we’ll just be a trying hard nation of fools.

So come 2013 & 2016, let’s trash these political termites & prevent them from coming back into power, never again!

  • maximus_meridius

Ang kapal mo to talk about unity samantalang yung pinaggagawa mo ay puro divisive at vindictive.  You have the gall to talk about unity? Tell it to the marines!  Yes, we will be united against you and your worthless inutile KKK cabal.  Vovo.  Estupido!

It is obvious that Pnoy is campaigning for LP candidates, but his trust rating is going down. the rampant corruption within his gov’t just go on un punish. the rampant rice smuggling just let it go, where NFA boss was freed. sugar smuggling has been going on since day 1 of his regime but no action and smuggled products from China displayed nationwide illegally and no action. DO NOT VOTE FOR LP AND UNA FOR THEY MOSTLY CONSIST OF TRAPOS AND DYNASTIES.

  • xelyxs56

Ayaw kong maghusga. Happy New  Year!

Tighter Unity? Mr. President, you just created divisions in the provinces of CEBU and PANGASINAN! What’s next? Davao? Palawan? Ilocos Provinces? Pampanga?

Hindi kagad  lahat  matutugunan ng gobyerno ang atin hinaing..It will take 10-15 years before poverty can be  substantially reduced to minimum with 7% -8% GDP growth . Ang pasalamat natin ay meron tayo President na matino na pwede gayahin ng susunod at pwede natin gamitin template sa pagpili ng susunod sa kanya..Kailangan natin ng dalawa president na kagaya niya para maabot natin ang level ng Malaysia..Remember Former Prime Minister Mahathir  who lead Malaysia and Former Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kwan You , they lead their country for more than 15 years with minimum corruptions and Malaysia and Singapore prospered . We do not have that opportunity since Pnoy will only stay up 2016 without re-election. So we really have to look for Pnoy’s successor from list of politicians, businessmen and private individuals, current cabinet secretaries. I have two in my mind, DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya and Dept of Foreign Affair Sec del Rosario. The only problem, Sec Del Rosario is his age and he might not be interested. Sec Jun Abaya is one of the most intelligent and capable  and experience person compared to others. He is graduate of US Naval Academy with distinction,a master degree in electrical engineering in USA, and also a lawyer.

    • KapitanBagwis

Vote Ping Lacson for president and you will get what you wished for.

  • Gerald Abueva

Tighter unity per se is not bad. But tighter unity does not mean always going along with the flow. Tighter unity is not about keeping quiet when people around Pres. Pnoy are doing wrong. We should be united but we should not turn a blind eye on erring government officials like Naguiat, former National Food Authority and part-time rice smuggler Lito Banayo or former DILG undersec Puno. The more Pres. Pnoy defends his erring friends and lets them get away with corruption or wrongdoings, the more disunity he will sow into our country.

Pnoy. Prosecute your KKK friends and you will win your critics and detractors over. Otherwise, Pres. Pnoy will just be all talk.

For starters, why not fire the underperforming POC Chair Peping Cojuangco?

President Aquino. How dare you to be asking for unity when in truth and in fact you divided the Filipino people with your heart breaking yet sinful RH Law but because of the advent of threat coming from the Antis as initiated by the Catholic Bishops, you issued a statement for tighter unity. Crocodile tears, Mr. Aquino is what you shed and nobody among the Antis as I presumed will parley with you.

The die is cast, I and my family shall never vote for anyone who supported the evil RH law not unless, she or he shall render a public apology to God and man.

Long live Philippines!  Brighter tomorrow must go with a good leadership for 2016. I pray that President Noynoy Aquino will consider running for a second term as President. This is the best solution for us to “walk together toward a bright and prosperous future for our country.”

Anyway, vote for right leaders? Then, Pres. Aquino, run in the 2016 Presidential elections.

    • arao_liwanag

      Bobo! Di alam ang sinasabi.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/O47U7LYPBEKMZEIIUJHAXJJFJA Peehel

Your Catholic leaders are not doing their jobs. You are blindly guided by these self proclaimed champions of morality. Why not just excommunicate all who voted for the RH law if these law makers and the president deliberately disobeyed the teaching of the Roman Catholic church. And do it first before gathering for a press conference. Making political threat by not voting or campaigning against LP candidates on this coming election is like allowing Satan to do his will through the church. Is it matters to God if they are or not in office after the election? Is this the modern way to punish non-believers?
Why is it hard for you to accept that there are always the majority and minority after the voting. And in democracy, majority always wins even if they are the most quiet. Minority ussually can’t hide the frustrations they tend to be noisy most of the time. And so, it is now RA10354. Who knows next time your president will be our president. And that is probably on 2022.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EXFI4EUGM23PQ4FMQKLVH36OXI Jose

Eh, of course he’s going to be campaigning for his party.  Nothing surprising here.

But to all the crabs on these forums:

P-Noy hasn’t been perfect, but he’s been a sight better for the country than his predecessors, and under him actual progress has been made: the RH Bill and K-12 have been passed, there is peace (mostly) in Mindanao, and the FoI bill should soon get through Congress, and in addition to the booming economy I challenge you to try and justify ANY post martial law presidents having accomplished more in 2.5 years than that.

And before anyone starts complaining that the RH Bill is a bad thing: Reality says otherwise, and you’ve lost.  STFU, losers.

Happy 2013 to all, and may the country improve further, despite the talangka’s best wishes.

  • catmanjohn

As congratulatory as one should feel towards the direction in which President Aquino has taken the Nation, let us be reminded of areas that needs to be addressed. The money that the Arroyos and other major thief politicians absconded must be retrieved asap, so that the infrastructures, especially disaster centers throughout the country can be brought up to standards. The Ampatuans must be put on trial soon, with transparency so that the truth be exposed to all, the Chinese must be kicked out of the West philippine Sea, the Garcia’s and other corrupt politicians like her must be kicked out by any means necessary, and if such goals can be met for 2013, then the Philippines is well on its way to becoming the vibrant Nation it should be. Good luck, and may the Force be with Us.

    • basyong

you have not studied your lesson in history mr catmanjohn and if you are an american pls don t interfere with our national welfare.marcos stolen wealth has never been retrieved and if ever been retrieved by who knows which administration the philippines never benefited from them.aquino s mother made the PCGG which in effect should be the one in charge of retrieving marcos wealht resulted in more corruption.you cannot blame that in glorias term because everything happened during the time of cory.instead of retrieving the money, people around cory s until panots term now have alll been interested in keeping the wealth to themselves than distributing them to the nation.just like hasyenda luisita all for the cojuangco family will benefit not for the common citizens

      • catmanjohn

Whether you like it or not, I intent to involve myself in Philippine politics. Your comment is about as asinine as those who might claim that any Pinoy OFW should be kicked out and returned to the Philippines. No double standards, do you understand? The magnitude of corruption, whether it be on the part of saboteurs in the name of Corizine’s banner, which is an old Marcos trick,( just go ask Enrile), is pale in comparison to the greed and corruption committed under Arroyo outright. Just because you are pro-U.S. does not give you carte blanche to rob and steal with impunity. Ultimately, this kind of behavior leads to civil war and unrest, as we are seeing crop up in the Philippines.

Come to think of it. What does it tell you? Mga abnormal pa kesa kay PNoy.

As the Top Economist in Hong Kong proclaimed last month…

If the Philippines & its people can somehow sustain 12 or even 18 STRAIGHT years of Good Government Leadership  thru a Straight, Honest, Pro Business & Investment… You Will See a New Economic Power in Southeast Asia starting around 2020 & could Very well be One of the top 4 Economies of the Entire Asia by 2025 !!!

Kaya mga kababayan…ang Eleksyon ng 2016 at 2022 will be the MOST IMPORTANT & MOST CRITICAL  CHOICES that Filipinos will make !!!

TATLONG Sunod sunod na Matinong President starting kay PNOY noong 2010, then, 2016 & 2022….. TAPOS ang  laban !!!! We will be a Nation that is MUCH CLOSER to the PRE-MARCOS Philippines which had the Philippines as the 2nd Wealthiest Nation in Asia !!!

It would be ANOTHER GENERATION of  Filipinos LOST to POVERTY & HARDSHIP !!

Sa mga may Isip na noong mid  1950’s hanggang late 1960’s, early 1970’s ….

Ang FAVORITE  VACATION Destination ng maraming  MIDDLE CLASS Filipino families  ( I REPEAT Middle Class Filipinos, hindi lang Rich Filipinos) ay HONG KONG ! Then by Late 1960’s, Middle class Filipino families started going on Vacations in Singapore as well!

There were ZERO OFW’s !

Tayo together with the Japanese ang namimili at namamasyal sa kanilang bansa!!!

By mid to late 1970’s, ..

    • koolkid_inthehouse

Fantastic.  Tell that to the voters, 99% have no clue what are you talking about.

Brainchild ni Ka Blas Ople yang “OCW, OFW”. First overseas contract workers then it became overseas (fu**ing) Filipino workers. I think the turning point for the Philippines from being top ranked country in Asia to being a basket case was the conjugal dictatorship era. That really did it for the Philippines. It was like the Camelot days.

  • speaksoftlylove

No we don’t. It’s you who needs a tighter screw.

    • koolkid_inthehouse

Filipinos must be educated about the government system. For example, it should explain the purpose of pork barrel and how much the government officials are getting and where are they going to spend them.

In my opinion, so far Pnoy is going on the positive direction for the country.

  • rock7222

Paalala lang sa ilan mga kababayan natin na “Hindi Maintindihan” ang konsepto na Economic Progress ng isang Bansa and the timeline for “realistically” reaching a higher level of economic achievement.

    First of all-

PILIPINAS PA !

Ang magagawa lang ni Pnoy in 6 years ay ITUWID ang ating BULOK at SIRANG System of Government !

Ang pilipinas ay nagkaganito sa 30-40 very long years na panay corruption, mismanagement, abuse…

Anong gusto ninyo- mag MAGIC si Pnoy in 6 years para ayusin ang BILYONG Bilyong pesos in corruption in Government, Politics & Business!!!

    2) GOOD NEWS !!!!

Ang Singapore po, the Wealthies Nation in Asia per capita & the now considered Highest Standard of Living in the WORLD ….

It took Singapore approximately 13Years of STRAIGHT REFORM in Government, Education, Business & Military to BECOME One of the Poorest, Uneducated  Nation in Southeast Asia to become the Wealthiest, Most Educated Nation in Southeast Asia. !!!! TANDAAN Ninyo …13 years !!!

By their 30th year, Singapore was named the 2nd Highest Quality of Living in the world & the Most # of Millionaires per capita in the world !!!

Ang Japan po, From the nation that was in TOTAL MASSIVE RUINS with NOTHING to show after being Hit with TWO ATOMIC BOMBS during World War 2..

In approximately straight 15 years of disciplined progress,  JAPAN REGAINED its Economic power as the # 1 Richest Asian Country  & the 4th Largest Economy in the world back then!

MADALIN BA ITONG GAWIN??? Hindi! Wala namang madali sa buhay!!

Kaya bang magawa ng Pilipinas ito ?? OF COURSE  BUT….

It has to START with ….

    1) Having 10-15 years of  Honest, Strong, Clean & Effective Leadership led by an Honest President !!!  Si Pnoy will give us 6 years of that!!!

Look at 3 years lang in PNOY..

Asia, Europe & the United States Economic Analyst SEE the MAJOR POSITIVE change in the Philippines & a Much brighter Outlook!!!

Singaporeans & Japanese are VERY DISCIPLINED & PROUD People !

Their Love for Country comes first !!!

And their Youth are handsdown the BEST & MOST Highly Educated Children in the world!

Corruption in Government is almost NON-EXISTENT !!!

Despite Political differences, Politicians in their nation NEVER PUT their Personal agenda OVER country!!

    Laging bansa ang una!!

Corporations & Business owners Always put the well being of Singaporeans & Japanese OVER others !!!

Maraming SAKIT ang Pinoy pagdating sa ugali… WE ALL CAN ADMIT that!

    1) Maraming Magnanakaw sa Politika at Business
    2) Maraming mapangabuso lalo na sa Politicians, the Rich, & the Military & Police
    3) PABAGSAK at PAHINA ng PAHINA ang Edukasyon sa Pilipinas
( Si PNOY ang unang Presidente who is really trying to turn this around)
    5) the WORST Political Climate in Asia..

And NAPARAKAMING MATATANDANG Politiko who still have the OLD WAY Of thinking!

Wala silang mabibigay sa bayan kung hindi mga kupas na ideas at old ways that NEVER works!

    PERFECT EXAMPLE ?

The 3 most Powerful & Most Influential Politicians Today who will Likely Lead the country in 2016 after Pnoy are ALL SENIOR Citizens !!!

    Binay is in his 70’s
    Erap is in his 70’s
Enrile is in his 80’s !!!!

Honestly- What possible can these 3 Men ( who by the way have VERY QUESTIONABLE Moral & Ethical Values in terms of Corruption & Good Governance)

    Compare that to PNOY..

he runs the country very similar to Young American & European Politicians like Obama, Bill Clinton & Tony Blair.

We have a Great Opportunity as a nation- Lets Not waste it !

    • madallison

Correct!! Very good analysis! And very true, it’s crucial who we vote for in 2016, if we vote for the wrong person everything PNOY accomplishes will go down the toilet and we’ll be back to square one!

      • speaksoftlylove

Of course, you are absolutely correct. If you continue with PNoy status quo his efforts will not “go down the toilet.” It will be accumulated in his behind and he will have a recurring “bum stomach” until the end of his term.

      • madallison

Give the 99% of Filipinos access to all types of media, international and local.  Make all tv channels available for the 99% of Filipinos to educate themselves in politics and economy, local and international.  Give tax break to educational programming, local or international.

Lower the value of peso to encourage international tourism and investment.  Improve roads, communications and security of the country.  Make local government accountable and should be trained for basic laws.

Filipinos should have access to bank loans to finance small business. The government should teach Filipinos basic investment and banking literacy.

Raise the interest to encourage savings.

The myth of unity. My point is let us stop all this non sense about the MYTH Of UNITY being used by politicians of all political colors when they either want to disarmed their opponents, or convince us they mean business to solve our problems or they are running out of ideas to solve our problems. What we want from the President and all our politicos is how they can make policies and provide the environment to create opportunities, make wealth, provide a lasting solution to our endemic problems like flooding, transportation, our education, our security, etc.

I’m not going to vote for LP anymore. We need fresh independents who will not be controlled by the administration.

It has failed in several crucial matters and yet it prioritized the very unimportant ones.

Just ask yourself this…..why is FOI the last? It simply means PNoy is not serious about good transparent governance. He will simply keep on doing this.

Why is Biazon still in Bureau of Customs even though this agency has failed miserably? Why is there arumor that Puno will be at DA? This means PNoy is still one who puts loyalty above good governance.

Why is the administration pushing to create laws that generate money and spend money before the law that makes people see thru the transactions.

Why is the Liberal Party fielding traditional politicians and relatives of personalities?
If we vote for these kind of people, we will just move backwards.

No to Liberal Party. The members in Congress seem to be just towing the line in order to get a bite of the pork barrel. Very disappointing. I like them in 2010. I don’t like them now.

Unity can only be had if the people feel comfortably that the State promote the values of morality, human, cultural and spiritual values that define a people.  The aspirations of Rizal and other Filipino heroes was for this nation to have identity as a nation and not an ape of other nations and cultures.  We must look at the past to be able to stand on firm ground at the present and chart our future securely. A society which is not grounded will not go very far.  This administration will reap the fury of the wind, as people are awakened because of the tendency of this government to go against the deepest longings of Filipinos for the greatness of their cultural and spiritual traditions and aspirations.

Not just unity but more importantly is nationalism. Many pinoys lack the love for country while most of our politicians put their interests ahead of the nation’s.

Also, voters should be wise enough to see through the false promises of candidates and should not be influenced by popularity, money nor the churches.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!

Unity. Good way to start a new year.

  • Pangasugan

Unity is bad for democracy and exchange of ideas.
The Germans were united in supporting Hitler. The Iraqis were united also under Saddam. Even the Japanese were united under the emperor who supported war.
For good ideas to thrive (or fail) and be debated upon, we need a healthy dose of disunity and disagreement.

  • wawa2172

Unity? Di ba politcal party ito ni Madam Gloria a.k.a. Pandak. I guess reaching out with your opponents because of the passing of RH and Sin tax laws in last day of 2012 needs no calls for unity. With pork barrel the grand coalition will be one during the election under the leadership of your party, the LP. There is no such thing as religious vote di ba, so bakit parang kabado ka sa election. Choose the upright candidates in your party and nothing will go wrong. The LP now has the government machinery with you as the sitting president. It seems however that your candidates, the incumbents are not performing well and chances are they will lost the election but as they say pera-pera lang ang boto and your party have it. The 3 Kings party is not yet picking up with Nognog, Erap and Manong at UNA talagang kakabahan ka. But as you are saying your “Matuwid na Daan” will make your chosen candidates be the incoming after election leaders of the country.  Though not yet a presidential election this year national election will be a Nognog and Mr. Palengke fight preview. The later will have the advantage with you at his side while Nognog will be alone kasi si Erap  the man with a Penguin style walk will be running for mayoral position in Manila. Walang religious vote I am sure but how about the “Yosi and Laklak” votes diyan kabado ka. There are more sinners that religious people, so work with the sinners. Pwedi e delay mo ang sin tax implementation after election, you can do it para mawala ang stress mo at maubos mo ang yosi na para sa mga iba pang sinners na katulad mo. Don’t worry about our leaders, nothing ciritical about it, when people vote for them then we deserved it, like you voted as the president of the nation. Baka akala mo ikaw lang ang may monopoly for good governance, marami pang papalit sa iyo, tulad ni Nognog..he he he.

To PNoy, Sir,  there is no problem to win your desired candidates in 2013 election if u can find ways “unity” with the Marcoses. By history, there is only two families that shape our nation, Aquino and Marcos, and this time why don’t you try to reshape our country for another chapter of history and that is true reconciliation?….HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  • buttones

Certainly a lot of flowery, emotive language going on here from Aquino. I am not to sure if the ‘unity’ spoken of is supposed to be a political unity? But surely, in a multi party democratic nation there cannot be such a thing? If the call is for a sort of ‘Nationalistic’ unity, don’t we have this already? [apart from the MILF who want no part of this unity anyway]
On the call to [paraphrasing here] ‘vote wisely’ that’s a good call- few do- after 67 years of this voting it has led us to this point, it is not, despite a bear market, a very nice situation for most- let’s be frank here it’s actually appalling, so I agree with what is said, the subliminal message however might be read as ‘Vote for the LP’, a furtherance of dynastical family rule, a crushing of any dissent, opposing values and ideas- I don’t think I want to join this ’club’ of political unity [if indeed it is the subject] thanks, but no thanks- include me out. No one person, not even you Mr Aquino, nor your ’heroic’ parents have prerogative over anything – you can do some good here and there, fine that’s welcome but to assume there are only two ways of doing things, ’the wrong way’ and the Aquino LP way is simply too much……

  • boybakal

Tighter Unity…how could you move if it so tight, as if Bingkis ang mga Pilipino.
Tighter Unity and Pnoy is espousing for his candidates, that is unity among themselves.
It really is tighter unity as there is no significant accomplishment this administration has done, except good publicity.

  • Maldi2

Trash!  Talking of Unity and at the same tine asking the electorate to vote his allies only.  That is more of division. if you want unity go down ato your critics, your enemies – that’s real unity.  What you’re branding is political unity and that’s but all TRASH!  Pweeee!

I know you’re feeling hopeless about our countries situatuion, but there is hope. The presodent didn’t say vote his allies, he just made a statement to vote the right leaders which is the right thing to do. Whether you believe that the right ones are not PNOY party mates or not is up to you. No need to be brash now. I believe that you are saying that the president is implying that we should vote his allies, but still he saying that we vote the right person is better understood as that. Regardless of what he is implying.

i did not vote for p-noy in the first place. but he is right when he said we should be more critical in choosing the leaders that we will elect. and i would support him in these times that we should maintain the progress he/our country has made. we can’t stay this way all the time. while our neighbor country passes us by. if not for the corrupt officials from top to bottom; civilian and military, sometimes even the parochial peoples. we won’t be in this MISERABLE SITUATION. sometimes i shed tears watching tv on how our fellow filipino children crossing 5 rivers just to get to school. sometimes those kababayan who canont afford to eat decent meals. those worse hit by typhoon. samantalang, FOR SURE may mayor, congressman, and governor sa lugar nila. all we have to do is select the most qualified and/or honest candidate. alam kong kakaunti lang sila. hopefully, may lalabas pa.

What will we tighten when unity,at this point in time,is under fire?
Unity denotes patience and understanding. If somebody is incorruptible, will unity be far behind?
Unity denotes trying to embrace someone who is down right now and wishing to spend the holidays in her home…
The law is harsh, but it is the law…
I see no harsher implementation of the law than in the American justice system..Yet,in the spirit of the season, the American justice system granted the wife of Sen. Lapid  her wish to be home for Christmas thousand of miles away from her Las Vegas restriction…On the other hand, you have somebody praying for a grant to be home several miles away from her hospital restriction, but was denied by a country which prides itself to be the only Catholic one in Asia.
The law is harsh, but it is the law..It is applied truly harsh…..to your enemies.
    Unity? where art thou?

    Series of good news….
1.No more Sick Man of Asia…posting a 7.1-percent growth in the third quarter, the highest in Southeast Asia;.
    2.The all-time high posted by Philippine stocks;
3.The signing of a preliminary peace agreement with Moro rebels
4,Enactment into law of the RH and SIN TAX measures.

The Pnoy is so proud to announce his accomplishments of 2012.
I agree but those are all PAPER ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
Parts of the country is still flooded, homeless, no major infrastructures, mostly filipinos are still poor.
SIN TAX and RH Bills are Higher Taxes imposed burdened to already burdened poor filipinos.

  • serapious

Pres. Marcos governed for the Martial law of the body, then we have the body of people power to neutralize. Pres. Pnoy goverrned with RH for the Martial law of the soul. then soon we have the soul of people power to neutralize…therefore we will have body and soul to glorify for the equal share of wisdom in equal glory of God is Love….filipinos, we are all noble freedom loving people.. for glorious repulic of the philippines…*toto*serapio camposano for governor of iloilo panay- philippines america nations all yunity-capital of global peace….

  • disqusted0fu

A tighter unity? Or a tighter grasp on everyone’s neck? Pnoy, before he speaks to the rest of the Filipinos, should first speak to himself and apply whatever he is telling his countrymen to do. He expects a tighter unity from us while his administration continues to attack their political enemies and create a larger division?!

  • joshua kings

first, he certified it (RH bill) as urgent; then saw to it that both houses tow his line; and then he signs it surreptitiously to make it the latest law of the land, like a thief in the night; despite the serious and vehement objection and opposition of many especially the catholics;  and now, he is calling on everyone to unite behind him?
    masaya ka, pnoy.
i tell you, your (and your cohorts in those houses) downfall, for leading this nation into perdition, has just begun.
    mark this down, folks.

    • Rolly257

Manghuhula ka pala. Kelan ka ba tumama…

  • tagahuron

Pnoy before presidential election: Pag walang kurap, walang mahirap.
Pweenoy after election: Pag walang anak, walang mahirap. (Ipasa ang RH Bill).

Pnoy to congressmen before presidential election: Daang matuwid.
Pweenoy to congressmen after election: No RH Bill, no pork.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_D3LDMMAKC6UDQLDVFP2DGSJBXY Jezzrel

      sinabi mo pa…

  • tagahuron

After he divided the nation on RH Bill he now wants to unite the Filipinos? This guy is hallucinating.

    • Panotcha

No, the Catholic church divided the country because of the RH Bill.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_D3LDMMAKC6UDQLDVFP2DGSJBXY Jezzrel

        LOL…

  • tagahuron

Pweenoy wants us to believe that RH Bill is “free contraceptives”. Government doesn’t get revenue to fund entitlements from trees. It gets revenue thru taxes from the people. So more “freebies” from government means more taxes from the people. Now people might say “tax the rich”. Rich people who owns companies will pass down the tax burden to consumers-the ordinary people. This is the reality of taxation.

    • Panotcha

ganun nga siya magsalita noh…parang reciting lagi from memory di spontaneous

Ay naku kulang na lang to mention and raise the hands of LP candidates, kampanya na at this time, then he will ask for honest election. Honest election starts at campaigning at the right time with equal opportunities for all. Grabe ding mandaya. Then until now simula pa lang daw nya, you are already half of your term remember. You cannot blame other people anymore much more GMA for your non action. Nababawasan na nga  ang naniniwala in reality, yun lang the truth is always hidden from us and you by the people around you.

‘We need tighter unity’. Penoy was speaking about his KKK, of course.
