Sinulog Fun Run fires off today at CCSC

THE third Sinulog Fun Run will kick off today with around a hundred runners set to answer the starting gun at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

This year’s runners will be composed mostly of Cebu City Hall employees who were encouraged by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama to join the fun run as part of his administration’s physical fitness program.

The fun run which is held in December and not in January for the first time, will be traversing the 5-kilometer carousel route used in the Sinulog Mardi Gras parade.

The carousel route ply the streets of P. del Rosario, Imus, Gen. Maxilom Avenue, Fuente Osmeña and back to the Sports Center.

The  first 100 finishers in costume will receive a Sinulog 2013 souvenir shirt while the top three finishers in both the Men’s and Women’s category will get P5,000, P3,000 and P1,000 respectively. The runner who wears the best Sinulog-themed costume will take home P2,000 while P5,000 will go to the Group winner. Another P5,000 will be awarded to Cebu City Hall employees.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
