Church: Let’s paint country red vs RH bill

Let the entire country turn red.

The Catholic Church on Thursday urged the faithful to tie a million red ribbons across the Philippines as a sign of protest against the reproductive health (RH) law.

Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles said lay groups were behind the One Million Red Ribbons for Life and Family Movement, which will be launched Friday as the Church marks the Feast of the Holy Innocents.

“Merry Red Ribbon Christmas and Happy Red Ribbon New Year. Let us show the RH people that we will not take the signing of the bill into law sitting down,” said Arguelles.

“All prolifers, continue the fight. Tie red ribbons on cars, bags, gates, posts, schools, churches and everywhere life is threatened,” he said.

Church-run Radio Veritas said the movement will be launched with a “holy rosary” rally at the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Pagsanjan, Laguna, Friday afternoon.

Among the speakers at the rally will be Fr. Melvin Castro, executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Family and Life.

“This is a laity initiative which I wholeheartedly support,” Arguelles said.

Prolife Philippines president Eric Manalang said the movement would show President Aquino that Catholics would not merely shrug off his signing the RH bill into law.

“The idea is to show the RH President that his signing the bill into law will not be taken sitting down and he needs to veto it,” said Manalang.

Padre Damaso cannot take the hint that his time is up with his defeat in the RH Bill voting. With his desperate moves, he is provoking the great majority who welcome the passage of the RH Bill to react in kind and turn the country into a sea of purple.

Actually, the pro-RH Bill need not lift a finger because with Padre Damaso moving heaven and earth to protest the RH Law, the rest of the country who will not tie yellow ribbons are for the RH Law.

Padre Damaso, listen to to voice of the people. Your time of holding sway over this country is now up. The survey of the Philippine Star on the question Are you going to vote for a senatorial or congressional candidate who supports the RH BIll?placed the Yes votes at 55 percent to 43 percent for those who said No. And the ongoing poll of the PDI on the question Do you favor divorce in the country? says that more than  93 percent approve of divorce.

    • Jane Tan

Frankly, Catholics like myself are getting annoyed by his actions – for a priest to show so many vices is just not normal for me. We used to hold these guys in the highest regard but, lately, no.

      • abner

      • Alloywheel1

Ikaw – mapag-panggap na Kristiyano.  Sinungaling at hipokrito.

      • mabyrik

ang pagiging catholics ay di nakukuha sa bulag na pagsunod sa mga paring walang mahalaga kung hindi alms, donations and bribes. they don’t ever care if the bread given to them are blood money. bsta money, tanggap nila iyon.

  • $14334231

let’s see…one million voters for the three wise guys….we have what, 20 million voters?…okay, we’ll give them the 1 million and the rest votes against them…simple math, isn’t it?…and btw, why red???…are you now blood thirsty???….green, orange, blue or any color (except yellow, i assume),, but you chose RED????….i hope you’re not instigating a civil war……

    • indiosbravos2002

1million thats only roughly 1% of the population @90 million Filipinos. So ano to the minority wins?

  • filipinaskoh

    OMG!!!

My gulay!

    RH BiCaM Conference: Bugbog sarado

ACCEPT THE FACT that majority of Filipinos favor RHbill either catholic or non-Catholic.
ACCEPT THE FACT that you have no control and cannot influence the thinking of the Filipinos. ACCEPT THE FACT That you cannot imposed your whims to the majority of the Filipinos.

AGONY OF DEFEAT – is painful and hard to accept!

  • filipinaskoh

    COLOR THE TOWN RED!
    RIBBONED THE TOWN RED!
    IT’S CHRISTMAS!

Aren’t you a little bit late in decorating the town?

By the way – wear red caps, red pants, red shirt don’t forget the white belt and the black boots. No problem with your belly they are already well stuff!

  • filipinaskoh

    TRY  A LITTLE BIT HARDER!!!

Maybe the MAYAN prediction may come into your favor, and the world will end tragically with hailstorm, great earthquake, floods and tsunami – because RHbill will become a law.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/QEHKXMM5XZTZFHDNVTZDDCSAXY Vincent James

Ironically, the red ribbon is a symbol for AIDS prevention which is part of the RH bill.

  • ryan andres

Damaso doesn’t know when to quit…

Hitler did the same, when he asked the Nazi partylist to wear the red arm band with the swastika on it.

One thing that the NSDAP and CBCP have in common is that they both seem to think that they OWN the people.

And look what happened to Hitler and the Nazis. Same fate awaiting the CBCP.

    • mabyrik

At least, hitler accepted defeat by committing suicide. But the bishops? They’re like pinnochio who continued to tell lies after lies without let up.
Just like a sore loser in an election, the bishops will never say “I lost”, only “I was cheated”

      • abner

  • Albert Einstien

    RH is anti-future, anti-progress,anti-filipino, anti-poor & anti-country!

the country is in the RED’s hand already…they should instead paint the palace red.. policies are becoming redder & redder…..china is already at panatag boat ride away to manila & mainland luzon……..their local party…mates are already rubbing elbows with the chinese EGG….. in the palace….. and chinoys here  are already celebrating ALL in red…lol.. …..2012 is REDs year NO DOUBT….god forbids by 2013…they are already our masters..RALLIES & PROTESTs will be banned…just look what happened to democratic youth in tiananmen square..!

In short, A.E. is an idiot.

  • picker_blend

    bunch of screw balls.

  • basilionisisa

this Archibishop Arguelles is sick, definitely SICK! kailangan na nito ng psychiatrist.

Can someone initiate a Letter of Petition to the Pope, perhaps Sen Cayetano or Cong Lagman, for him to advice or ORDER these priests and bishops throughout the country to quit dividing the people and disrupting peace and just accept their defeat and RESPECT the WILL of the people and the government? Put this petition all over schools and public offices for people to sign.

These psychos and maniacs and their suckups must be stopped once and for all!

  • mabyrik

These losers in robes and pinkish voice never learn.
These losers cannot accept the truth that the days of masquerading abusers, pretenders, actors/actresses and wearing white, purple, or whatever robes are over for they still believe that Filipinos are gullible, or uto-to or tanga that they can dupe easily with their forked tongue.

These dupers thought that the people can still be swayed by their right hand doing the sign of the cross while the left hand was holding on to his crotch with an impish smile usually done by a spoiled brat after breaking an expensive ornament.

They haven’t learned the lesson the people and senators given them after they blessed Corona for his impeachment trial, the blessing that sent corona to h ell and imburnal. A blessing corona and his entire clan will never forget, ever with tears in their eye, in regrets.

They still haven’t felt  the backlash after a bishop declared that cheating is now one of the beatitudes instead of deadly sins because “Everyone cheats anyway”.

They refused  to accept the fact that they have already turned into a Midas in reverse, that whatever they touched, they turned them into stinking sh$%t instead of glossy gold.

The people in Mindanao affected by Pablo are shivering shivering in cold, hungry, and begging for help from the bishops but instead of comforting them, they turned their heads in opposite direction unmindful of their pitiful conditions while cursing pnoy for doing his job as the president of all the people.

While we are seeing nameless people, soldiers, DSWD/Red Cross/NGO staff braving treacherous heaps of rubble, ruined houses, to save lives in New Bataan, the bishops are cozily drinking expensive wine in their gated palaces and busily asking for donations to be sent to Vatican and for sustenance of their luxurious lifestyles. We haven’t seen in media even 1 bishop or priest who waded through the muddy flood during any typhoon to help the distressed people. And yet, they were very visible in attacking the government before, during and after RH deliberations.

Yes and sadly, these bishops have repeatedly shown a misplaced sense of priority…and sensibility, while their flocks are crying in shame.

    • Yobhtron

      Amen to that!

    • miiron

      AYE!!!!!

    • leubas

      MABUHAY KA MABYRIK,,,,,NASABI MO LAHAT!

      • mabyrik

Thanks. We are one with so many others in this forum. And if we are to condense what others are saying in few words, it is “Padre Damaso is dead”.

    • AllinLawisFair

I would have expressed the same, so I just say, “AMEN.”

  • Yobhtron

Go on and pin those red ribbon on your robes. It symbolizes your unwanted encroachment in the affairs of the state.  It’s will be a symbol of the DAMASO!

  • Hey_Dudes

How can there be unity in our country when the catholic church hierarchy is among those vigorously instigating discontent  among the populace?  Instead of inspiring fellow citizens to uncover new roads leading to better understanding and humanity, they’re the ones and not Satan at the forefront of fomenting not only spiritual unrest but one that could also lead to people getting hurt trying to defend their rotten ideals?

When will the catholic church through these meddlers realize they are doing more damage than advancing the country like others in the region have succeeded doing without church interference?  Enough already.

  • farmerpo

Lets paint the country red.. he he….akala ko matindi na ang lets paint the town red…..siga talaga ang mga obispo…sama pa si Rosario…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_4R3GZTGML26TV2VGS6RVHP2THM Fred

    Good luck na lang.
just like any Catholic, our family will continue praying together instead.

  • miiron

lets paint the country RED AGAINST THE PEDOPHILE AND ABUSIVE PRIESTS!!!

  • kayanatwo

    28dec2012

nobody asked me, but…better not tied any red ribbon on our gate. we have a post no bill sign on it.

is this act of a la “high plain drifters” by bishop arguelles, to paint the entire country red is all he can do?

to bishop arguelles, how do you sleep at night??????

    • Padre Agaton

siyempre nakapikit. meron bang natutulog ng dilat?

  • boybakal

Church: Let’s paint country RED vs RH bill….

I really don’t understand why the Church chose color Red in a fight against RH Bill.
    What does RED symbolizes?
Just to connect RH bill is against artificial birth control.
Maybe RED symbolizes that we have Natural Birth Control….that when Mrs has RED no pwede, may Regla…nakataas ang bandera.
It is really fitting color red than yellow that connotes mahina na ang semilya.

    • where_I_stand

Red is a color of martyrdom… persecution of the Church and its members.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EXFI4EUGM23PQ4FMQKLVH36OXI Jose

Are you lot REALLY claiming that this is persecution against the Church?  Because that’s really one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard said.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TCQMRK4HVOSF2IGML46TAGKMXU Benjamin

And Red is also the color of the leftists. Kulay komunista iyan kabayan. Kakulay ng BAYAN, GABRIELA, KMU at iba pang makakaliwang grupo. Iyan ang kulay ngayon ng simbahan. From Catholicsim to Communism!

    • leubas

MARAMI KASING NAKA RED NGAYON XMAS SEASON,, SO MAGMU MUKHANG MARAMI ANG NAG POPROTESTA,,,,,,HOY BISHOP ARGUELLES HINDI MO KAMI MALOLOKO!

  • batangsulpok

Haha

      • batangsulpok

Thank you, red nga pala, mali ang type ko.

  • KapitanBagwis

These Mitsubishops are fomenting unrest in the Philippines between the Catholics and non-Catholics like what is going on in Ireland. Catholics against protestants.

If that happens, there will be much blood in their hands.

    • 444mangyan888

      no no no….
pinoys will never take the bait. Those retiring bishops are maybe only jealous of the cardinal because he is becoming really very popular and his views do not always sit well with the aristocratic, demagogic and conceited prealtes like arguelles, palma..etc..
If we would hear what cardinal chito had to say, surely, it would be a real christian statement…
Besides, yes, we are that ultra religous but we are not fanatical..!!! The Gomburza proved that long ago..!!!

      • KapitanBagwis

Let us hope! We will see how far these bishops will go to create havoc in the country.

    • Padre Agaton

Tinimbang ka ngunit kulang, aling Ireland? Northern Ireland o Republic of Ireland? Kulang yata nabasa mo sa google.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EXFI4EUGM23PQ4FMQKLVH36OXI Jose

Read up on your history before calling others ignorant, idiot.

Both Irelands used to be under British rule, until the Catholic-majority half broke off, with the Protestant area deciding to remain under the UK.  Groups like the IRA have continued the sectarian violence between the two.

        Idiot.

      • Padre Agaton

        what is going on…idiota!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EXFI4EUGM23PQ4FMQKLVH36OXI Jose

        Bobo.

      • Padre Agaton

what is going on? nagrerefer ba siya sa kasaysayan?

grabeng kaboploks naman yan! what is going on? ngayon o ang nakalipas? hahaha! idiota!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EXFI4EUGM23PQ4FMQKLVH36OXI Jose

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EXFI4EUGM23PQ4FMQKLVH36OXI Jose

      • Padre Agaton

        hahaha! napahiya ka lang.

eto na lang isalin mo sa wikang pilipino..”like what is going on”

Wow, what world are you living in?

Tanga mo talaga.

And since you’re obsessed with the phrase he used, sectarian violence has decreased, but anyone who lives in Belfast or Ulster will tell you there’s still some going on today, and you’re an idiot for thinking there aren’t tensions in Dublin either.

You don’t think he’s referring to history because he used the present tense? Well, what do you think caused the tensions, you idiot?

      • Padre Agaton

        kasaysayan daw? chos! hahaha!

I agree with Jose na ikaw Padre Agaton ay bobo. You are just trying to say something which is out of reality. There was really a war between the Catholics and Protestants for so long in Ireland and there was a movie made portraying that war. @Jose You are right there is tension in Belfast at the moment.

But in Dublin? No. Living there for most of my life, and right through ‘the troubles’, the only time I remember there being tension was after the 1974 bombing in the City Centre.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EXFI4EUGM23PQ4FMQKLVH36OXI Jose

Really?  I am studying in Barcelona, and have some Irish friends, and they’ve told me otherwise.  Maybe it’s just in the countryside?

Still, I’m happy to be corrected on this, as you probably know more about the situation than I.

In any case, I might actually be headed to Dublin in a few months, any sites you’d recommend?

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/G7AHS4SX7TZDVNZS2AQHAAKYDE Pascal C

Maybe the ones from Belfast said so. Definitely not the Dublin ones.

Depends on how much time you have. If it is only a weekend in Dublin. Temple Bar for the nightlife. Maybe a short trip to Powerscourt and Castletown House (near Celbridge). Better still go to New Grange ( 3.000BC in Co Meath).
Dublin City itself has many old stuff that I take for granted.
On the otherhand,  If you have a week or so; the world is your oyster.

Near enough. But not totally right. Very short history:
Ireland was fighting for independence from Britain for hundreds of years. The Northern part of the Island had more settlers mostly from Scotland. The 1916 rising (by the IRA) was the starting point of independence. In 1922 the Irish Free state government was formed, giving Independence to 26 of the 32 counties, on condition Ireland remain part of the common wealth. The deal signed was that remaining 6 counties (Northern Ireland), stayed part of Britain (although all of Ireland was Ireland for 2 days). This deal was not acceptable to many people both North and South. A civil war ensued for about a year.In 1937 the Irish Free State became a republic (Republic of Ireland) with a new constitution and in 1949 Ireland left the Commonwealth. In the late 60s the Catholics in Northern Ireland started marching for civil rights (although Catholics were 40%, very few had good jobs, as sectarian discrimination was rife) and this was the catalyst for more rebellion. This was the start of what is referred to as the ‘troubles’

Oh, and the above is not from Wiki. Although I consider myself half Visayan; I am 100% Irish.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/G7AHS4SX7TZDVNZS2AQHAAKYDE Pascal C

IRA = Irish Republican Army. They were the ones who go independence in the first place. They were the freedom fighters from 1916. My brother (the oldest) has my grandfathers IRA medal for fighting for our independence. We feel passionate about this. The ‘provisional’ IRA were the branch that bombed London etc. and they made peace on the Good Friday agreement. The ‘Real’ IRA are a group who sprouted from that who did not agree to a ceasefire.
Forget Politics. Go watch Lionel Messi in the Nou Camp, and see the joys of the beautiful game. Afterall, the catalonians are celtics (prou. kelticks) just like the Irish

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EXFI4EUGM23PQ4FMQKLVH36OXI Jose

Hah,yeah, Messi has been FAR more fun to watch than the Catalan separatists.

And yeah, I’ve really no time for the IRA separatists.

Don’t really think that is true. They are creating unrest between their ‘Holy Rich’ supporters and the rest of Pinoys, be it Catholic or what else.

As you mention Ireland (I think you meant Northern Ireland), the bishops should take a leaf out of there. For many years the Irish bishops were sticking there nose in politics. It was not until ’96 that Ireland got divorce. They came up with all sorts of propaganda to try to scare people off; which did not work, and the people voted FOR divorce. Nowadays the bishops are are on their back feet dealing with their priests sexual abuse cases dating back decades. People are not afraid any more.

      • KapitanBagwis

Yes, Northern Ireland. Except for that Padre Agaton who don’t have gray mass but all ashes, I believe most netizens here are smart enough to understand what I am talking about and therefore it is not neccesary to specifically mention Northern Ireland or Unionist or Republicans. My comment was not about the history of Ireland but just making a semblance to what these CBCP are doing.

The Feast of the Holy Innocents has no strong historical proof. The killing of children as ordered by King Herod has no historical truth. The Biblical narrative of the killing of infants can be explained as fulfillment of the Old Testament prophesy. Catholic biblical scholar Raymond Brown viewed the story similar to the killing of the first born during the birth of Moses as recorded in the book of Exodus.

It is interesting that the hierarchy of the Church will use this day to register the Catholic protest against the RH law pending signature of the President. Well, like the questionable massacre of infants during the time of Herod, the unfounded fear of the bishops about the mass killing of the unborn due to the RH Law has no truth in it. Interestingly, the protest falls on the fool’s day. Let all the victims of this prank wear red.

Luckily, I am going to wear my red polo-shirt today. What a day!

This is one way why Catholics are shying away from the church nowadays. They are changing their affinity from Catholic to other religious sects because of the hardheadedness of the Church and its awkward ways.  You are the only religious sect in the Philippines who insists in trying to oppose the will of the majority. TAPOS NA ANG LABAN! Admit you lose in the fight to oppose the RH bill. The church should be a good sport and not contradict the will of the people. I dont think most Catholics will follow your advice. The Church has become insolvent and looks so pathetic the way they continue their fight even to the point of looking like stupid enough.

It’s so sad that pro and anti RH bill people engaged in heated discussion, maligning ang ridiculing themselves when the reality is that both sides are wrong.  I always believe that “Separation of Church and State” is a myth but I realized recently that the foundations of my belief is terribly wrong that is, when the dawn of 12.21.12 arrived. End of times which the mayans, other ancient civilizations, prophets, and the Bible is all about the end of times of the powers that be. Indeed, 12.21.12 is the start of mankind’s “Awakening and Rebirth.” Recently, PNoy made deals with Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. One should ask what is the common denominator of these nations? The answer is, they are all crown states of England – one of the powers that be soon to become powers that “were.”

Mankind have been duped with a well prepared, well planned, well scripted, and well programmed virtual reality. The lessons we thought we learned from school are shockingly distorted. In fact, we learned nothing. If you want to fully understand what I am saying, type “Want your mind blown.” in your browser and watch a video which will answer your long doubts. Be sure to have ample time because the video lasts more than five hours, comprising of ten episodes. I’m sure that your attention will be glued once you start watching it and won’t stop until it’s finished. Enjoy the truth.

      Sayang ang bandwidth sayo.

      • speaksoftlylove

Hold your horses and open your mind. I have been a strong critic of the RH law and always will. But that does not mean that I am defending the Roman Catholic Church. I don’t belong to any religious sect and don’t completely believe in any religious books. What I believe is my own certain conscience under the ethical Principle of Invincible Ignorance. Read my latest blog explaining the last letter T in the word “testament”.It is my own view and the discussion is based on my own opinion. Etch this in your brain – All kinds of politics and religion is a farce, a virtual reality, programmed for mankind to see for all time by “powers that were” motivated by greed.

    • tarikan

Who made the video, the Mayans? “Separation of Church and State”  is a myth only to the Church side. The Church wants to be the State also as was enjoyed during the conios’ time. They want to meddle with government affairs but very shy on the tax issue. The doctrine is “No taxation without representation”.  It seems that they have too much representation but no taxation.

      • speaksoftlylove

If you will not watch the video you and your robot PikonNaKami will remain clueless audience of the biggest sarsuela since time immemorial. You will never be awaken to realize that the “powers that were are the tri states comprising of London (economic) Washington D.C. (political and military) and worse, Vatican (spiritual). That is why Washington DC itself has it’s own flag with three stars. Are you aware that the riches country are not Arab oil producing nations because they pale in comparison with the riches of the Vatican? The video was written and produced by a lady who had an altercation with her father who is a member of the top level (33rd) of the Freemason. She pleaded with her father to quit the group but of course her plea went unheeded. From then on she investigated this extremely discreet organization and traced it’s roots to the ancient time of the pharaohs in Egypt whom we know exercised pagan culture. Just to give you a clue: Recent scientific findings reveal that the pineal gland in the center of our brain is the link between our mortal and astral bodies and serves as a conduit to the Divine. The pineal gland shapes exactly similar to the pine cone. Ancient Egyptian knew this secret knowledge so the pine cone symbol was etched in their pyramids, obelisks, tombs, potteries, and every artifact. Yet, in front of a building adjacent to St. Peter’s Basilica there is a huge monument depicting a pine cone which dwarfs even the tallest man of the world. On each side are birds depicting the Phoenix which represents rebirth from the ashes, Also on each side of the base are two lion monuments depicting the eternal lives of pharaohs. And finally, immediately in front of the pine cone monument is an open catacomb or sarcophagus depicting the Egyptian pagan belief of rebirth and return of sun god Amon Ra. So, what the blip are these Egyptian pagan symbols doing inside the Vatican when it is supposed to be the seat of Christianity? In the face of the dollar, a symbol of pyramid can be found, and on top of the pyramid an all seeing eye symbol is enclosed in a triangle. Both are symbols or signs of Egyptian pagan culture. While the words “In God We Trust” are written above the symbols, immediately below you will find the latin words Novus Ordos Seclorum which simply means “New World Order.” Finally, what do you think the Washington monument stands for? It was built by the US Freemasons (Grand Lodge Order) in honor of Pres. George Washington who is also a Freemason. London wanted the real thing so they excavated the Cleopatra Needle and erect it near the banks of the River Thames. What about the Vatican? It has also its own huge obelisk with a round thing on it’s base. And finally, do you know what the obelisk stands for? The whole obelisk stands for cohabitation (sorry the word is banned). The obelisk itself symbolizes a male organ while the round base stands for the woman’s organ according to Egyptian pagan culture. What the blip is going on inside the Vatican?

Tnx for the info, quite interesting. But be careful with your grammar, here are some examples: 1. never be awaken (awakened, bec. it follows “be”). 2. the powers were are (can U really use these two together? Perhaps: powers that be?). 3. the riches country are (country is singular but followed by “are”)… not Arab oil producing…4. traced it’s roots (it’s means “it is” not the possessive “its”). Freemason…Our own Joey P. Rizal was a member.

“The Catholic Church on Thursday urged the faithful to tie a million red ribbons across the Philippines as a sign of protest against the reproductive health (RH) law.”

    BABALA!!!!

All I can say is that these belligerent, hotheaded and nagwawalang cone heads ought to “cool it”. Relax lang kayo, mitsubishops. Wait for the next president.

Naniniwala ako sa sinasabi sa Bibliya, ‘GIVE TO CAESAR WHAT IS CAESAR’s’.

    MAY THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY
    BLESS AND GUIDE THE PHILIPPINES
    AND ITS PEOPLE.

    • where_I_stand

I agree that not all the people in the Philippines are Catholics. However, it must be noted that more than 70% of the population are Catholics. If the hierarchy of the Church can successfully educate, organize and mobilize the Catholics through its parishes, the Catholic vote can influence government policies. The Iglesia ni Cristo has a strong voting bloc. The same with other religious communities. Muslim communities outside Muslim Mindanao also registered solid vote. This Catholic vote is not only possible but a potent power to be reckoned with.

Your comment delimiting the functions of the clerics to what is spiritual revealed how  poorly informed you are on your Catholic faith. You may blame the bishops and priests for your lack of Catholic education, but as an adult it is your duty to be educated in your faith.

I, too, criticize the hierarchy of the Church–along with its lay followers–for adhering to the outmoded and fallible teaching of the Humanae Vitae on contraception. Worse, imposing strict obedience to it and rejecting any dissenting opinion on the matter. I also criticize any cleric or lay who called the supporters of RH as bad Catholics. Cardinal Dulles himself said that dissent has a legitimate role in the Church and to disagree with the bishops does not make one a bad Catholic.

You also mentioned about the democratic process. But you also need to be vigilant when those in power are using the CDF (pork barrel) to dictate the vote of the representatives in Congress.

And, I also know from my Cathoilic upbringing, bukod sa nasusulat sa Bibliya, na WALA AKONG KARAPATANG HUMATOL SA KAPUWA, bagamat tungkulin kong itinuturing na i-express ang aking saloobin sa anumang issue na hindi kinakailangang mag-impose sa iba.

KAYA TINATAWAG ANG BAWAT ISA NA INDIVIDUAL SAPAGKA WALANG DALAWANG TAO ANG EXACTLY THE SAME…somewhere, somehow may pagkakaiba…at sa mga PAGKAKAIBA , kinakailangang MAGGALANGAN.

      • GlenMJacob

I came across with this article of Keith Green which he shared a letter sent to him by a catholic theological student, he categories Catholics into four groups thereby, might be able to explain why there is no such thing as catholic vote.

        1. Traditional Catholics – those who like the way the Catholics before Vatican 2.
They cling to the old forms of worship and do not approve much of any reform.

        2. Charismatic Catholics – Those who are part of the ‘Charismatic Renewal’ in the Catholic Church. These are the ones who speak very much like evangelicals, and talk of the ‘born-again experience.’ They are also the most open to establishing unity and fellowship with non-Catholics.

        3. Liberal Catholics – These are very much like liberal Protestants. They do not believe in the authority of the Church or the authority of the Scriptures, yet they like to retain their Catholic identity.

        4. Social Catholics – Those who were born Catholic, and still identify themselves as Catholics, although they rarely go to Mass (except possibly at Christmas or Easter with their families) and do not have very solid religious convictions.”

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/UZF4OTGY4BREFE42RXP7FZJKFY Ding

“70% Catholics…Catholic vote is not only possible but a POTENT POWER to be reckoned with”…MALAKAS…’yan ang sinasabi mo…LAKAS NA DAPAT MANGIBABAW SA MAHIHINA…KAYA DAPAT SAMANTALAHIN.

And, ‘ I lack Catholic education’ … kung ‘yan nga ang ituturo ng isang KATOLIKONG TULAD MO NA DAPAT MAMAYANI ANG LAKAS…I do not only lack Catholic education. IF THAT WAS EVER DEMANDED IN THE CATHOLIC FAITH, I WOULD REFUSE TO SUCCUMB TO SUCH TEACHING…NA SA GANANG AKIN AY ISANG PAGSASAMANTALA NG MALAKAS SA MAHIHINA.

AT HINDI IYAN ITINUTURO NG MGA GENUINE,  GOD-FEARING AND GOD-LOVING CATHOLICS.

      • taga_ilog

Since when was there a catholic vote? I agree with Ding that the clerics should only be after the spiritual churvaness of their flocks and should not mingle with politics. If Ding does was not informed , well his education is better than most of the bishops and priests who does not kniw when and where they should meddle.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VPSXDLCQEZGZDJSX32G7PYHNCI Noel

Pardon my interruption but you are dwelling on issues of religion, which entails a never-ending debate. Lets stick to the real issue at hand which is the staunch opposition of the Catholic bishops and their elk to RH. Ding sounds like a devout Catholic, lets respect his choice of religion, but he has an open mind too, unlike some of the rabid bishop lovers. Ding is for reason, whether he is catholic or not is beside the point. We can debate on doctrinal issues when the need arise, okay?

To qoute from Wikipedia: Baʿal (bet-ayin-lamedh) is a Semitic word signifying “The Lord, master, owner (male), keeper, husband”. Cognates include Standard Hebrew (Bet-Ayin-Lamed); בַּעַל / בָּעַל, Báʿal, Akkadian Bēl and Arabic بعل. In Hebrew, the word ba’al means “husband” or “owner”, and is related to a verb meaning to take possession of, for a man, to consummate a marriage. The word “ba’al” is also used in many Hebrewphrases, denoting both concrete ownership as well as possession of different qualities in one’s personality. The feminine form is Baʿalah(Hebrew בַּעֲלָה Baʕalah, Arabic بعلـة baʿalah) signifying “lady, mistress, owner (female), wife”.

Ba’al zeebub (pron.: /biːˈɛlzɨbʌb/ bee-el-zə-bub or /ˈbiːlzɨbʌb/ beel-zə-bub; (Hebrew:בעל זבוב, Baʿal Zəvûv Arabic: بعل الذباب‎, Ba‘al az-Zubab;, literally “Lord of the Flies”;Greek: Βεελζεβούλ, Velzevoúl; Latin: Beelzebūb), with numerous archaic variants,[1] is a Semitic deity that was worshiped in the Philistine city of Ekron. In later Christian and Biblical sources, he is referred to as another name for Satan,[2] and in demonology, is one of the seven princes of Hell.

Jesus Christ as LIGHT, TRUTH, HEALER AND PROPHET.

“I am (Jesus) the way, the TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. John 14:6.
Matt 24, Signs of the End of the Age, are Jesus’ prophecy as told to his disciples. The whole book of Revelation is a prophetic book with instructions from Glorified Jesus to Apostle John; Write, therefore, what you have seen. what is now and what will take place later. Rev 1:19.The 4 gospel books, mentioned HEALING events with Jesus.

“I am the LIGHT (Jesus speaking) of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the LIGHT of life.” John 8: 12.
        Now, care to explain Apollo.

Well within their rights. They can tie red ribbons anywhere they want, provided they take these things into consideration. They should do it on the properties they own, there are lots of them anyway, and they’re all tax free. Second, the government allows them, if they plan to do it in a public place. Third, they should respect the owners’ rights if they want to do it in a privately owned property. There are laws to consider and those laws, we, the majority, follow. Those laws, they should be following also. Nevertheless, given their bizarre behavior, consider that as wishful thinking.
While at this, why don’t they use red ropes instead of red ribbons, the kind you get at hardware stores? They’re made of hard plastics, the colors don’t fade, and they don’t easily rot, even when soaked in the rain. You can tie it anywhere and it won’t break. Well, it’s really up to the Damasos and their minions where to tie it. Not on their necks, I hope.

Stop yapping loose dawgs. Read the the full context. CBCP is just supporting the Movement of Pro-Lifers with Bishop Arguelles statement “This is a laity initiative which I wholeheartedly support”. So if you understand the statement above, its the choice of the catholic people or members that’s spearheading the move to tie red ribbons. It will be the CHOICE of the Anti-RH Catholics to tie red ribbons if they choose to support the mass action. Tieing red ribbons is still a democratic practice like tieing yellow ribbons for Ninoy. So who’s forcing who? I think Your barking at the wrong tree here. We even want to pray to TITA CORY to intercede for his son as a SAINT OF DEMOCRACY. So let the peaceful protest be. You have your pro-RH choice and the catholic laity have their democratic anti-RH choice. So we are pro-choice as well.

the catholic church has lost its message – it is no longer preaching the GOSPEL MESSAGE that  CHRIST is the only savior and thru Him people will be redeemed from their sins, thus it has veered towards politics – continuously and constantly violating the separation of church and state.  Instead of preaching the GOSPEL MESSAGE, it keeps harping on political issues, environmental issues and other issues where the catholic church has no business or expertise whatsoever.   RH bill is pro-life and has never been anti-life.  the catholic church should not peddle lies about the RH bill being anti-life, it’s a violation of the ninth commandment – “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. (Exodus 20:16 ESV).  the catholic church appears calloused on the miseries of poor families having too many children that they rather continue their unfounded opposition to the RH bill.
It should preach its beliefs and convictions inside their temples only and not in media or in the streets.  If it believes it has the huge support of so-called “faithful catholics” with her, then by all means let them avoid the artificial contraceptives it so abhors but do it not in the streets, TV and other media fronts, sa sermon ninyo na lang po.  and instead of being belligerent and threatening the President and all those who voted for the RH bill, follow the scriptural admonition by Paul –  First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, [2] for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. [3] This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, [4] who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. [5] For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, [6] who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.  (1 Timothy 2:1-6 ESV) – this is one of the forms of true prayer (not the prayer rallies that militants practice and the true gospel about CHRIST).

Priest who had sex with boys now tells how to smuggle ivory

National Geographic‘s new issue exposes the ivory business, which has been hiding in plain sight since a worldwide trade ban was enacted in 1989. And a major player in the magazine’s story is a priest in the Philippines whom I wrote about in 2005 when investigating another global-trafficking phenomenon — the Catholic Church’s movement of sexual abuse suspects across international borders to escape justice.

The priest, Monsignor Cristobal Garcia, is now quoted as explaining how to smuggle ivory into the United States:

“Wrap it in old, stinky underwear and pour ketchup on it.” And if an icon won’t fit in a suitcase? Here’s how

National Geographic‘s Bryan Christy summarizes Garcia’s advice: “I might get a certificate from the National Museum of the Philippines declaring my image to be antique, or I could get a carver to issue a paper declaring it

to be imitation or alter the carving date to before the ivory ban.”Garcia also made provocative comments when I interviewed him about why he fled the U.S. in 1985. He admitted having sex with altar boys and supplying them with drugs

The Catholic sex abuse cases are a series of convictions, trials and investigations into allegations of child sexual abuse Crimes committed by Catholic priests and members of Roman Catholic orders against children as young as 3 years old with the majority between the ages of 11 and 14.

Is this true?  What is your source?  Why do catholic church not help all the poor Filipino people then?  They have more than enough money.  I think, it is time to amend the Constitution.  It is high time for the church to pay taxes.

Those are just loose change if the Catholic Church just imposed the 10% TITHING like what the Born Againsts and non-Catholics do. But if these are true, at least Catholics are assured that this money are not used by the priest to feed its children, buy its own car or pay tuition for their school children or build the pastor’s mansion.

Can the BORN AGAINST MEMBERS be assured of the same?

  • virgoyap

This hardliner archbishops don’t want to accept defeat. They still want to divide the country. This only prove that they are not for PEACE. They are not for UNITY.  If Their plan will push thru I’m  thinking of leaving the Catholic Church. Hope many others will follow.

I am Prolife  (Who is not, anyway?). However, we have to qualify what kind of life the Church wants:. Life under the bridge, life of out of school kids playing crime in the streets, life of an abandoned pregnant young naive wife, life of squatting on someone’s lot, life of petty crimes perpetrated by the unsupported(by the Church) poor.

  • Maurice Nicholls

It’s probably time to reconsider taxing the Church, since they can’t help not to meddle with the STATE’s affiairs..  Come to think about it, we pay our dues responsibly to the government…but here goes the Men in Robes who flaunt their wealth while preaching righteousness, humility and self-proclaimed defender of the poot

  • MULEN

As usual, the tying of the ribbons will be handled by the CWL, the Cursillo group and FLA and the expenses will be sourced out of the collections taken during masses. Ideally, as a show of force, a prayer rally would have made a huge impact for an advocacy like this but the RCC learned its lesson. The last time they called their faithfuls to voice out their opposition on the RH bill, not more than 30K showed up at EDSA despite contingents from the provinces, not the million mark hoped for. That’s why in lieu of warm bodies, they settle for the million ribbons.

    • KapitanBagwis

How about Sotto? He must also be there to tie a red ribbon around his neck.

Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi,  we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again  he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘ You  must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

    Majority of the Filipinos are
Catholics. In the separation of the church and the state, religious freedom and
religious belief is being protected and guaranteed by the constitution.

    RH Bill is against the
beliefs and morality of the Catholic Church. It cannot be imposed to its faithful.

    By logic, the Supreme can
declare the RH Bill “Void ab initio”!

    • taga_ilog

and by logic, the church cannot impose it’s dogmas on the non-catholics, and besides it’s up to the catholics themselves if they will follow the churches great teachings, RH does not require that all filipinos use contraceptives. so if the rc is confident that the filipino faithful will follow it’s teaching, why should they be afraid of RH?

      • joshmale2004

        Precisely correct.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/SPLUBLEOSERDBOIJTDOC6XIWGU mxsclxmxn

Yes, we don’t impose to you non-Catholics and we don’ t want it impose on us!
That’s why you can eat your RH Bill and spread it to your CULT!

      • taga_ilog

who said you don’t impose? The fact that you reject the RH bill on religious reasons is a proof that you are imposing your belief on other non catholics. The passing of the RH bill was a legislative process, and our constitutions does not favor any religious group. Prove to me that it does. Agin, i tell you, if your RC is confident that the catholics will follow your teachings, you need not fear RH because it does not require all filipinos to use contraceptives. Use reasoning and logic not emotional outbursts. It shows that you can’t defend your position well so you resort to non-sense

      • Tonypogi

I am sorry but the reverse seems to be true.  The RH Bill is not compulsory. It provides choice. It is the Anti-RH proponents who wants to impose their cult and their will on everyone !!!!!

    • joshmale2004

That maybe true as you can see thru their comments. Some PRO are basing their argument based on facts and some are based on religion. But the fact also is that Not all Catholics are Anti-RH.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_7RFIF3RZOLMXTVBEM5R2ZCC2TI Lemuel

Its also that most pro-RH are pagans, anti-christ and anti-catholics

      • joshmale2004

During Jesus time, there were only two religions existing which Judaism practiced by the Jews and Paganism practiced by Gentiles. Emperor Constantine of Rome was a Pagan and practicing paganism. In order to consolidate his power on Christianism, he converted from Pagan to Christian and to consolidate his hold on power using Christianity,  he appointed a Universal Pope named Boniface III in 606. Birth of Catholicism revolved around this 2 rulers where paganism practice was integrated slowly to Christianity for centuries. The following Catholics practices of paganism were integrated to Catholicism and those Christians who would not follow were labelled Heretics: 1. The Rosary – First used by Pagans and Buddhist before Catholicism was born. 2. Sign of the Cross – Practiced by Pagans in Babylon even before Christ was crucified. 3. Worshipping Idols and Icons – Original Pagan practice and not Judaism.

The Pagan Religion marched into the Christian Era, halted momentarily to change her outer garments, and then marched on under the guise of Christianity. It has been said, “clothes do not make a man” and being dressed like Christianity does not make Catholicism the true Church. Multitudes have come into her fold thinking they have embraced the religion of Christ. What a tragedy! True Christianity is found in the teachings of the Bible and not in the tradition of a church pregnant with Paganism which will eventually give birth to the rule of the Antichrist.

Salvation is in the Christ of the Bible.”Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12).

Correct. That was what pagan catholic churches in the early generations call Christians who do not follow the pagan ways integrated to catholicism.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/SPLUBLEOSERDBOIJTDOC6XIWGU mxsclxmxn

Protestants do it too! Kala mo wala?

ProtestantismOne example of a few of the alleged heretics who were executed under Protestant church law was the execution of the Boston martyrs in 1659, 1660, and 1661. These executions resulted from the actions of the then ultra orthodox protestant “Puritan” sect, which during those years operated as a de facto church-state institution holding nearly absolute authority over the Massachusetts Bay Colony. At the time, the colony leaders were apparently hoping to achieve their vision of a “purer absolute theocracy” within their colony. As such, they perceived the teachings and practices of the rival Quaker sect as heretical, even to the point where laws were passed and executions were performed with the aim of ridding their colony of such perceived “heresies”. This example is by no means unique to the times.

      • joshmale2004

Well, I don’t care. I am not a protestant either.

    The
Catholic Church, also known as the Roman Catholic Church, is the world’s
largest Christian church, with more than one billion members worldwide. It is
among the oldest institutions in the world and has played a prominent role in
the history of Western civilization. The Church teaches that it is the one true
Church founded by Jesus Christ, that its bishops are the successors of Christ’s
apostles and that the Pope is the sole successor to Saint Peter who has
    apostolic primacy.

    Wherever
you will search it, you will get this truth accounted by HISTORY!

    Only
the pastors will deny its authenticity. Fools, they tried to be the one with divine
link with our Lord when they can’t trace their roots back to the apostles! Fools,
they can’t even agree on their common beliefs as each of their pastors are to
each of his own religious package! Fools, for rejecting Mary; she was there uniting
    and assuring the confused apostles!

12 Then they returned to Jerusalem
from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey. 13 And
when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were
staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and
Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of
James. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with
the women and Mary the mother of Jesus,
and with His brothers. (Acts 1:12-14)

1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all
with one accord in one place (Acts 2:1).

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a
rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3
Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each
of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

    How
can they reject Mary! How can one love the son or daughter without loving the mother!

    All
of us Catholics are proud and love our mothers. Likewise with Mary, our mother,
    our model!

Check the separation of the so-called “Roman Catholic Church” with the “Eastern Orthodox”. it was the RCC who broke the protocol when they unilaterally decided to change the Nicean Creed without an Ecumenical Council.

Because Mary is not God and was only an instrument to fulfill the prophecy to
make Jesus a human being.

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and
the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5)

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through me. Di ba second commandment yan pero tinanggal ng Katokliko.”Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I The Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My Commandments” (Exodus 20:4-6)Bawal din magbenta ng mga imaheng ganyan. Kaya pagdarasal nyo sa mga ginto nyong santo, nino, at maria ay puro kasalanan.”Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? Ye are even My witnesses. Is there a God beside Me? Yea, there is no God; I know not any. They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed. Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing? Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.” (Isaiah 44:8-11)God is not made of wood, plastic, or cement – God is not to be represented by wood, plastic, or cement:

“For as much then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commanded all men every where to repent: Because He hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom He hath ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him from the dead” (Acts 17:29-31)

Instead of going to the SC, better for the CBCP to conduct an election among you Catholics only for YES or NO to RH Bill. They might get a surprise that even in Catholics, majority of the flocks favor the RH Bill. Unless they don’t want to face this truth.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_7RFIF3RZOLMXTVBEM5R2ZCC2TI Lemuel

Waste of time and money just for one policy. Why not federalize the Philippines and let the Pro-RH convince each state if they need such policy. I know our province will not vote for it becuase we are under populated. Only a few urban places are over populated. Its not even a priority policy in our region. We need more policies fo infra projects like airports, brigdes, farm to market roads, etc. To cut short we need more tangible government policy outcomes.

      • joshmale2004

It’s not a policy and not a waste of time and money for the Government. My suggestion was for the CBCP to conduct its own survey or election on its own flock. Off course, the expenses have to be shouldered by the Catholic Church if they want to know the choosing of their own flocks and ranks. I am talking here of an internal election within your religion and not the whole country so you can flush out the PROs and ANTIs among yourselves.

      • Ganymede

Expenses shouldered by the Church? For sure, the survey will result in the Church’s favor. They will not invest if they gain nothing.

Like I said hindi lahat ng anti-RH ay catholic so inaccurate ang lalabas na resulta. Stop your anti-catholicism drive if your a christian that is pro-RH. God bless you on your journey. Vaia con Dios.

      Mary Dyer’s and William
      Leddra’s executions

      “Mary Dyer led to
execution on Boston Common, 1 June 1660″,

Mary Dyer also stepped up the
ladder, her face was covered and the halter put round her neck, when the cry
was raised, “Stop! for she is reprieved.” She was again banished, but
returned in May 1660. Since her reprieve others, both colonists and visiting
Friends, had brought themselves within the capital penalty, but the authorities
had not ventured to enforce it. After ten days Endecott, at the bidding of the
courts, sent for her, and asked her if she were the same Mary Dyer who had been
there before. On her avowing this, the death sentence was passed and
executed. Another Friend, William Leddra of Barbados, was executed on 14 March
      1661.

There seems little point in delaying the signing of the RH bill into law. The church will not calm down. It will not be reasonable. It will never examine itself. It will continue in its campaign for the subjugation of the Philippine state and its people. It does not respect the separation of church and state. It does not respect Filipinos.
Red has become the colour of arrogance. It has become the symbol of fascism. It is the color of the blood of the women whom the church has condemned to death in childbirth. It also represents the suffering of those whom the church condemns to a life of poverty.
What type of perversion is it that enjoys condemning people to a life of poverty and then commiserates with its own victims? Is that not evil? Yes, red has become the color of perversion also. Maybe I should check my wardrobe for signs of evil. I will take care in wearing red in case I am mistaken for one of the CBCP’s band of perverts.

Frankly, I doubt your analysis. The President knows that he has the people behind him. They support his fight for a healthier, wealthier and more moral country. Most Catholics reject the views of their own Church heirarchy. They do not support the Church heirarchy’s battle to control the country against the will of the people.
Malacanang knows what it is doing. It knows that the CBCP will run a campaign against solons who voted to support their people. Most Pinoys supported the RH bill. They put their country first, above the greed of the power-hungry and arrogant CBCP.
Let people vote for the good of their fellow Pinoys. Let the Filipino people support each other in the quest to rid this country of crippling poverty. Let Pinoys take pride in themselves and their country. Let this country be truly independent and make its own decisions. Let us not be dominated by an arrogant foreign force that seeks to control the people here and has no respect for Pinoys. Let us defeat the Vatican campaign to control this country.

I see that the revered Catholic Archbishop of Lipa has thrown his hat in
the ring. He has decided to lead a crusade against family planning and
    responsible parenthood.
One can’t help feeling sorry for the members
of the Catholic heirarchy here in the Philippines for missing out in
the great crusades against Islam a few centuries ago so it is
understandable that the Archbishop would relish the opportunity to lead
the fight against Filipinos, especially those female ones who refuse to
    do as they are told.
To those who condemn Archbishop Arguelles’ decision
to don his military colors of red and more red against most of the
nation, let it be said that being a personal representative of God was
never easy. As the signs in front of churches say “Obey God’s will” and
it is commendable that Arguelles is able to discern this will despite the
fact that many of the revelations that the crusade is based on are not
even implied in the Bible, let alone stated. To be able to understand
Christ’s message in a manner that is actually contradictory to the views
he expressed while on earth takes a very high level of intellect. One
can’t help feeling proud that the CBCP is able to produce a leader
superior to Christ. Not even Christ was able to explain how it was an
act of kindness to force poor people into a life of suffering and
maternal deaths out of a phobia on the part of many clergy concerning
sex. Arguelles does better and should be credited with being called the
“brother of God”. It would be insulting to call him merely God’s son.
Likewise terms like “Brother-in-law”, “cousin” or “uncle of God” would
understate his level of divinity and all-round smartness.
Let us all wear red t-shirts with the slogan “suffer the poor …. beacuse that is how we like it.” Lead on Archbishop!

    Protestants come in different flavors!!!

Quakers, or Friends, are members of a family of religious movements which collectively are known as either the Friends Church, or the Religious Society of Friends. Friends’ central doctrine is the priesthood of all believers,[1][2] a doctrine which is derived from the Biblical passage 1 Peter 2:9.[3] Most Quakers view themselves as a Christian denomination. They include those with evangelical, holiness, liberal, and traditional conservative Quaker understandings of Christianity. Controversially, over the last 25 years, a minority of Quakers in the Western world have started to question some traditional Christian beliefs and practices. In today’s world, around 89% of Friends worldwide worship in churches that have programmed worship [4]—that is worship with singing unto God, a prepared message from the Bible, and often coordinated by a pastor. Around 11% of Friends[4] practice waiting worship (also known as unprogrammed worship) – that is worship where the order of service is not planned in advance, which is predominantly silent, and which may include unprepared vocal ministry from anyone present, so long as it is credible to those assembled that the speaker is moved to speak by God. Some meetings of both styles have Recorded Ministers in their meetings. Recorded Ministers are Friends who have been recognised for their gift of vocal ministry.[5]The first Quakers, known as the Valiant Sixty, lived in mid-17th century England. The movement arose from the Legatine-Arians and other dissenting Protestant groups, breaking away from the established Church of England. These Quakers attempted to convert others to their understanding of Christianity, travelling both around Britain and overseas, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some of the early Quaker ministers were women[6] They based their message on the religious belief that Christ has come to teach his people himself: stressing the importance of a direct relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and a direct religious belief in the universal priesthood of all believers.[7] They emphasized a personal and direct religious experience of Christ, acquired through both direct spiritual experience and the reading and studying of the Bible.[8] Quakers focused their private life on developing behavior and speech reflecting emotional purity and the light of God.[9]

Christ is the founder of the Christian religion and not the fascist Catholic institution in the Philippines that you are supporting. Christ had nothing to do with the great inquisition, as perpetrated by your murderous Church, that massacred thousands of people. Christ will never condone sexual harassment committed by wolves in sheep’s clothing that celebrate the Holy Eucharist.

Christ will definitely not approve the stand of the so-called Catholic Church to hold the people ignorant of their reproductive rights and paint a bleak future for poor, unfed, and uneducated children that even the CBCP cannot protect.

The debate is done. The red ribbon campaign espoused by the bishops and priests is nothing but a reminder of their own hypocrisy.

Why I Left The Catholic ChurchTestimonial #1 by David Riggs
Find the true church in your own home town!
Following are my notes on a sermon that I preached shortly after I was converted from the Catholic Church back in 1962. It was the first sermon that I preached.
Introduction:In this lesson I want to state some of the reasons I left the Catholic Church. I do not wish to state any of the personal experiences I had as result of leaving. I will mention, though, that I came from a large, devout Catholic family of twelve children. I attended Trinity High School in Louisville, Kentucky. At the time of my intense Scriptural study, I had two brothers who were enrolled in Catholic seminaries studying to be priests. I also want to state I did not leave the Catholic Church because of some evil that I had done or that was done to me. I left the Catholic Church because I came to believe that it was contrary to the Bible. This I will endeavor to show in this study. The First Reason I Left Is Because The Catholics Do Not Have The Right Attitude Toward The Truth. To illustrate what I mean by this, I will explain the difference in the two sides. Those with the right attitude toward the truth are always willing to test what they teach with others. They invite those of opposite views to work together for truth and unity. They appreciate when those who differ with them point out where they think they are wrong. They have everything thoroughly tested, studying arguments both for and against, looking at both sides of the question.
Those with the wrong attitude toward the truth are not willing to test what they teach in fair and open discussion, privately or publicly. They do not invite others to point out where they think they are wrong, and do not appreciate when others try to do so. They won’t allow their members to hear both sides of an issue, and especially they don’t want them to examine opposing arguments.
Hopefully, one can now understand what I mean when I said the Catholics do not have the right attitude toward the truth. Catholics are not allowed, and especially are not encouraged to hear both sides regarding truth and error. They are not to read books which differ from their doctrine. Thus, they are encouraged by the clergy to be closed minded to anything which differs from Catholicism. We ask, “Why don’t Catholic officials encourage their members to examine opposing Scriptural teaching?” False teachers have learned that when truth and error are examined side by side, some begin to see the truth. False teachers are afraid of being exposed and of losing their members. The Next Reason I Left Is Because The Bible Only Is The All Sufficient Guide To Salvation, But The Catholic Church Teaches That It Is Not.The Catholic Catechism For Adults on page 52 says, “Can you learn to save your soul just by reading the Bible? No, because certain things in the Bible can be misunderstood, and because the Bible does not have everything God taught.” Notice that the first part of their answer to “Can you learn to save your soul just by reading the Bible?” is, “No…” However, their own translations of the Bible teaches the opposite. All Scriptural quotations that I will be giving are from Catholic translations. 2 Tim. 3:15-17 says, “And because from thy infancy thou hast known the holy scriptures, which can instruct thee to salvation, by faith which is Christ Jesus. All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice, that the man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work.” Thus, the apostle Paul by the inspiration of God, says to Timothy “thou hast known the holy scriptures, which can instruct thee to salvation” and make you “perfect, furnished to every good work.”
Rom. 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel. For it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first, and to the Greek. James 1:21 says, “…With meekness receive the ingrafted word, which is able to save you souls.” Consequently, the word contained in the Bible is able to save our souls.
The next part of the answer in the Catechism to the question, “Can you learn to save your soul just by the Bible?” is, “No, because certain things in the Bible can be misunderstood…” They are implying that the Bible cannot be understood. John A. O’Brien, the Catholic author of the book, “The Faith of Millions,” is much more expressive when he says on page 152, “The Bible is not a clear and intelligible guide to all…” The book, “The Faith of Millions” was given to me before my conversion by my older brother Norman who was at the time a student at St. Meinrad Seminary, St. Meinrad, Indiana.
The apostle Paul said we can understand what he wrote. “If yet, you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me towards you: how that, according to revelation, the mystery has been made known to me, as I have written above in few words; as you reading, may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ.” (Eph. 3:2-4). Paul said the mystery had been made know to him by the revelation of God. He then showed that he was writing it e.g., “as I have written above in few words” (in the chapters prior to this) and “as you reading, may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ.” In other words, when we read what he wrote, we can understand what he understood. Paul also said , “For we write nothing to you that you do not read and understand” (2 Cor. 1:13) and “Therefore do not become foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Eph. 5:17). Thus, the inspired writers taught that we most certainly can understand the Scriptures.
The last part of the answer given in the Catechism to the question, “Can you learn to save your soul just by reading the Bible?” was “No…because the Bible does not have everything God taught.” The Faith of Millions, on pages 153-154 says, “The Bible does not contain all the teaching of the Christian religion, nor does it formulate all the duties of its members.” The Scriptures contain everything that is necessary to equip the man of God for every good work (2 Tim. 3:16-17). There is not a solitary good work that the Christian can do which is not provided in the Scriptures. The Scriptural proof they give for the Bible not containing everything God taught, is John 20:30. It says, “Many other signs also did Jesus in the sight of his disciples, which are not written in this book.” (See Catechism For Adults, p. 10).
In John 20:30, John simply said that Jesus did many other signs (miracles) which he did record. Notice, though, what John says in the next verse, “…But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.” Thus, the apostle clearly shows that he wrote sufficient things to produce the faith which brings life in the name of Jesus. Life in the name of Jesus refers to eternal life and it is obtained by belief in the things written by the inspired writers.
We freely admit that the Scriptures do not contain everything Jesus did. John said, “There are, however, many other things that Jesus did; but if every one of these would be written, not even the world itself, I think, could hold the books that would have to be written.” (John 21:25). Although we do not have everything Jesus did, we do have every necessary thing. We have enough to give us life in His name.
Catholic officials follow up their claim (that we cannot understand the Bible) by stating that one can get the true meaning only from the Catholic Church. The Catechism For Adults on page 10 says, “How can you get the true meaning of the Bible? You can get it only from God’s official interpreter, the Catholic Church.” The Catholics have no passages which mention an official interpreter and, thus, they try to support their claim through human logic and reasoning. Anytime men do such, it amounts to nothing more than human philosophy rather than Scriptural proof. The Bible says, “Let God be true, but every man a liar…” (Rom. 3:4). It also warns, “See to it that no one deceives you by philosophy and vain deceit, according to human traditions, according to the elements of the world and not according to Christ.” (Col. 2:8).
The doctrine of the “infallible interpreter” implies that God did not make Himself clear. It implies that God gave us a revelation that still needs revealing. Did God fail in His attempt to give man a revelation? Do the Catholic officials want us to believe they can express God’s will more clearly than God Himself? We believe that God made the mind of man and is fully capable of addressing man in words which man can understand. The Third Reason I Left Is Because Christ Did Not Make His Church Infallible As The Catholic Church Teaches. The Catholic writers try to teach that the church could never go into error and is preserved from error. The Catechism For Adults on page 56 says, “Why can’t the Catholic Church ever teach error? Because Jesus promised to be always with His Church to protect it from error.” The book, “My Catholic Faith” which is based heavily on materials from the Baltimore Catechism, was given to me by my father not long after I was converted. I think his intentions were that somehow it would cause me to return to the Catholic Church. It says on page 144, “Jesus Christ promised to preserve the Church from error.” On page 145, it says, “Jesus Christ commanded all men to listen to and obey the Church, under pain of damnation. If His Church can teach error then He is responsible for the error, by commanding all to obey.” On page 54 the Catechism For Adults says, “Does everyone have to obey the Catholic Church? Yes, because she alone has the authority of Jesus to rule and to teach.” It is easy to see that Catholics have the authority in the wrong place. The authority is not in the body, but in the Head (Eph. 1:22-23; Col. 1:18). The ruling is not in the kingdom, but in the King (Heb. 7:1-2; Rev. 1:5-6). The authority is in not in the church, but in Christ (Matt. 28:18; 1 Pet. 3:22). The church is not the Savior, but simply the body of the saved (Acts 2:47; Eph. 5:22-24).
There are many passages in the New Testament which reveal that the church would not be preserved from error. Acts 20:17, 28-30; 2 Pet. 2:1-3; 1 Tim. 4:1-3; 2 Tim. 4:3-4; 2 Thess. 2:3-11. We see from these passages that there was to come a great falling away from the truth. In Acts chapter twenty we learn that perverse things would come from the bishops of the church. Peter said (2 Pet. 2) that false teachers would arise among you (working from within) and there would be many who would follow them. Paul tell us (2 Thess. 2) that the apostasy was already underway, “for the mystery of iniquity is already at work…” (Verse 7). It started in Paul’s day and was to continue until the second coming of Christ. He added, “…Whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth and will destroy with the brightness of his coming.” (Verse 8).
We cannot harmonize that which the inspired apostles said (there shall arise false teachers among you) with that which the Catholic writers say (shall be preserved from error). Furthermore, we call your attention to the fact that the characteristics of the departing group are identical with those of the Catholic Church. Everyone knows that the Catholic Church has forbidden its people to eat meat on Friday and at the present it forbids some from marriage. Also, the only way for the wicked one to last from Paul’s day to the second coming of Christ is to have a continual succession. It could not be some wicked person of the past because he will not be here for the Lord to slay when He comes. Furthermore, it could not be ones in the future because their iniquity would not have started in Paul’s day. It must, therefore, be a continual succession from the beginning until now. The Catholic Church is the only group which perfectly fits the apostles’ description of the great apostasy.
The seven short epistles to seven churches of Asia in the book of Revelation reveal the relationship the church sustains to Christ (See Rev. chapters 2 and 3; see especially 2:1-5, 12-14, 18-20; 3:1-3, 14-15). Those verses plainly reveal that when a church continues in Christ’s word, it keeps its identity as His church, but when it fails to abide in His word, it is not longer regarded as His church. Also, they reveal that Christ did not establish His church as one that could never fall into error, because some of those churches went into error. Someone might say that the passages in Revelation referred to the various parishes or congregations rather than the whole church. It is true that the verses were speaking of local churches; nevertheless, the same principle that applied to them relates to the whole church. The Lord does not have a rule for one congregation which is not equally applicable to all. If one church is rejected for embracing error, all others who likewise embrace error are rejected. The early churches had to earnestly contend for the faith, and to continually be on guard against error arising from within. The doctrine of an “infallible church” causes the Catholic Church to fail in this. The Catholic Church is a church which neither recognizes nor corrects its errors.A Fourth Reason I Left Was Because Christ Did Not Make Peter A Pope.In the books of men, the following titles are commonly used with reference to a man: “Pope,” “Holy Father,” “Vicar of Christ,” “Sovereign Pontiff.” All of these are titles that rightly belong only to the Lord Jesus Christ and to God the Father. There is not a single instance in the Scriptures where any of the above titles are applied to a man. The term, “Holy Father” is used only once in the entire Bible, and it is used by Jesus in addressing God the Father. (John 17:11). Among the above titles is the bold assertion that the Pope is the “Vicar of Christ.” A “vicar” is “One serving as a substitute or agent; one authorized to perform the functions of another in higher office.” (Webster). When one searches the Bible from cover to cover, he finds only one passage which gives an indication of a vicar of Christ or God. It is 2 Thess. 2:3-4 and is worded as follows: “Let no one deceive you in any way, for the day of the Lord will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and is exalted above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits in the temple of God and gives himself out as if he were God.”
Some religionists today advocate that man is saved by faith only. However, there is only one passage in the entire Bible that has the words “faith” and “only” together and it says, “not by faith only” (James 2:24). The Catholics today speak of the Pope as vicar, taking the place of God (Christ Himself is God, Matt. 1:23; John 1:1), yet there is only one passage in the entire Bible which speaks of a man doing such and it calls him “the man of sin.”
James Cardinal Gibbons, a Catholic Archbishop said, “Jesus our Lord, founded but one Church, which He was pleased to build on Peter. Therefore, any church that does not recognize Peter as its foundation stone is not the Church of Christ, and therefore cannot stand, for it is not the work of God.” (The Faith of Our Fathers, p. 82). The apostle Paul said, “For other foundation no one can lay, but that which has been laid, which is Christ Jesus” (1 Cor. 3:11). There is no other foundation but Christ! Therefore, any church which does not recognize Christ alone as the foundation stone cannot be the church of Christ.
Catholic writers often speak of “the primacy of Peter” and “the primacy of the Pope.” However, Col. 1:18, speaking of Christ, says, “And he is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; that in all things he may hold the primacy…” Thus, with reference to the authority in the church, the Lord Jesus Christ holds the primacy in all things. This leaves nothing for the Pope!
Catholics claim that the Pope is the visible head of the church. The Catholic book Answer Wisely, by Martin J. Scott says on p. 49, “The pope, therefore, as vicar of Christ, is the visible head of Christ’s kingdom on earth, the Church, of which Christ Himself is the invisible head.” The book Father Smith Instructs Jackson, by John F. Noll and Lester J. Fallon, on page 42 says, “According to the will of Christ, all its members profess the same faith, have the same worship and Sacraments, and are united under the one and same visible head, the Pope.” Catholic officials always use the word “visible” no doubt thinking that it removes the thought of the Pope standing in opposition to the headship of Christ, and removes the apparent problem of having a church with two heads. Nonetheless, the Scriptures nowhere teach the idea of a visible and invisible head. Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (Matt. 28:18; Emp. mine D.R.). Luke 17:20-21 says, “And on being asked by the Pharisees, ‘When is the kingdom of God coming?’ he answered and said to them, The kingdom of God comes unawares. Neither will they say, ‘Behold, here it is,’ or ‘Behold, there it is.’ For behold the kingdom of God is within you.” The kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom and therefore needs only a spiritual head or king.
Eph. 5:23-25 shows that Christ is the only head of the church. “Let wives be subject to their husbands as to the Lord; because a husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is head of the Church, being himself savior of the body. But just as the Church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their husbands in all things.” Consequently, the wife is subject to her husband as the church is to Christ. Just as the wife is subject to only one head–her husband, the church is subject to only one head–Christ. Just as the husband does not send a substitute to rule over his wife, Christ does not authorize a substitute to rule over His bride, the church.
Catholics often use the expression, “One fold and one shepherd” to sustain the doctrine of the papacy. (See Catechism For Adults, p. 59). They teach that the “one shepherd” is the Pope and the “one fold” represents the Catholic Church. Hear what Jesus said about it: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep…I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, even as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep. And other sheep I have that are not of this fold. Them also I must bring and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.” (John 10:11, 14-16). Jesus is that one good shepherd. If one can understand that one and one equals two, he can understand this. If one is subject to Christ as the one shepherd–that’s one. If one is subject to the Pope as the one Shepherd–that’s two!
The church is often compared to the human body in the Scriptures. The members of the church are represented as the various parts of the body. Christ is always said to be the head. (See 1 Cor. 12:12-27; Eph. 1:22-23; 4:15-16). Our question is: “What part of the body is the Pope?” Also, “How does one get the idea of a sub-head into the body?”
One of the greatest arguments against the primacy of Peter is the fact that the apostles had an argument among themselves as to which of them should be the greatest. Luke 22:24-26 says, “Now there arose a dispute among them, which of them was reputed to be the greatest. But he said to them, ‘The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and they who exercise authority over them are called Benefactors. But not so with you. On the contrary, let him who is greatest among you become as the youngest, and him who is chief as the servant’.” The very fact that the apostles had an argument among themselves shows they did not understand that Peter was to be prince. Also, the occasion of the argument was the night of the betrayal–the last night of the Lord’s earthly ministry–and yet the apostles still did not understand that Christ had given Peter a position of primacy. The Lord settled the argument, not by stating that He had already made Peter head, but by declaring that the Gentiles have their heads, “But not so with you.” Thus, Jesus very plainly taught that no one would occupy any such place as a Benefactor (or Pope) to exercise authority over the others. Conclusion:There are other reasons why I left the Catholic Church. I have simple tried to list some of the ones that made the greatest impression on me at the time of my conversion. I hope and pray that these things will be of some benefit to those who are making an honest inquiry regarding truth. I beseech and invite all my Catholic friends and relatives to examine these things in the light of God’s holy Word. May God be with you in your endeavors to serve Him.

Kung di mo tanggap si Peter na prime and foremost chosen head of the apostles who went out to baptize people and preach the Good News..di wag mo.
1,611 years, more or less, bago dumating ang Protestant reformists. Siyempre meron may pagkakaiba.
Faith without actions is dead…patay, bossing…dead. “The harvest is rich but the workers are few”…very few are truly working for the salvation of men. There are more talkers and writers who question the papacy and practices of Catholics but do nothing when the teachings of Christ are seriously attacked. Kata Holos sa epistle ni Paul to the Thessalonians…Greek for “Proclaimers throughout the World” and shortened in English to Catholic. gets mo bok?

instead of spending for those red ribbons, why not adopt a million street kids / poor kids instead?  or send 1 million poor kids to catholic universities such as ateneo and ust for free?

wouldn’t that send a stronger message?

Juico of PCSO has already said, “I AM SORRY” to these bishops for the false accusation.

  • artz555

It is indeed sad to note that the sore loosers’ anti-RH people and the Archbishop are  still defying the will of the majority of the Filipino people, who were in favor of the RH bill’s passage in Congress. and the  recent subsequent RH bill passage by members of Congress, after 13 years or more of delays mainly by the same  anti- RH folks and the Church.

These anti-RH folks should wake up to the reality that their arguments didn’t stand the scrutiny of the majority of the Filipino people ( and their representatives in Congress ), who really know what is good for them, for their future and the future of their country.

These anti-RH folks should instead tie their red ribbons to every poor household in the crowded slums and squatter areas in PH with numerous children in which their families cannot afford to feed, clothe and educate these children, to show to everyone that the RH law will now be able to help them plan their families properly and give them a brighter future not only for their families but  for the whole country as well, who won’t be overburdened by unwanted children.

The anti-RH folks should tie their ribbons to the numerous graves of dead mothers who have died ( 11 mothers dying everyday ) all these years because of complications of childbirth, because nobody could help them, like the RH bill, in their time of need. Then, the anti-RH folks should start tying their red ribbons to the flowers that are being  offered in funerals of 11-14 mothers who may still die every day of childbirth complications, because the RH law is not being implemented yet.

The anti-RH folks should instead tie their red ribbons in the hands of all the Rugby-addicted, unwanted boys and girls who may still be roaming the streets of Metro Manila because their poor families cannot afford to feed, clothe and educate them, because the RH law is not being implemented yet.

These places and other places ( which is actually the whole country ),  which would signify the places where people will eventually be saved and helped by the RH law, is where the anti-RH folks should be tying all their red ribbons.

      Scrutiny, my foot.
Do you honestly understand the meaning of “safe and satisfying sex life”?
Where is the salvation for the poor there?
Dead mothers are due to lack of immediate prenatal, delivery and postnatal health services? Will condoms stop maternal deaths? No, jerk. No pregnancies, no maternal deaths? Such a convoluted logic that is.
Just because the RH will become a law, those against it should shut up? You have no idea of democracy really. In fact, laws are revoked, revised, or end up merely as white elephants. Rights to speak up and question existing laws are protected under the Constitution.
Do you honestly believe the lie that RH will make fewer hungry and poor people?
Flood the country with contraceptive contraptions will never ever make a household a little better. Spending billions of pesos yearly for contraception is nuts, pure nonsense.
Use those billions of pesos to pay for competent health professionals and equip public hospitals and barangay clinics with the right medical facilities, then that is wisdom, pure wisdom.
Why should contraception make our country better? Less people, better economy? Wrong again.
But, maybe you won’t understand. so what’s the use?

Just shut up Mang Teban and swallow the outcome of the passage of this bill. Even your god had turned a deaf ear and abandoned your annoying meddling in the affairs of the secular government. Even your rosaries and prayers were useless and didn’t work. So you guys are just making a mockery of your religion. We know we would never make you understand scientific facts and concepts as your religious blinders are tightly shut. So really there’s no reason for the majority of us catering to the whims of your kind because it will just be a waste of time and effort. I say ignore the catholic church and its hierarchy. So yeah…you’re too naive to think you still have all Filipinos believing everything your bishops and church say. Clueless..clueless.

Our numbers are insignificant? Are you referring to the intellectuals, the academe, the businessmen, progressive catholics and other religions, and liberal minded lawmakers including the President? Well I don’t think you could call us collectively insignificant. If the passage of the RH bill is a testament…your so called majority is just part of your fantasy world. • Guest

Mangmang Tebobo cannot stand rebuttals. I rebutted him with counter examples and the only thing he can do is insulting the opponent. He is one of the naives who think the more (street children and beggars,) people, the better the economy. Way a too simplicistic logic.

      • Guest

Mang Teban, you have such a simplicistic view. More (young) people doesn’t mean automatically better economy, either. There are much younger countries than the Philippines like Uganda, particularly Nigeria (with even a much greater number of people) and yet they struggle to lift up the general living standard. The reason is… very fast population growth. The economic growth simply cannot cope up with the population growth. They cannot spend all their budget in education but they also have to spend in infrastructure, health sector etc. Of course, under that situation the (in nature ineffective) state can provide neither adequate infrastructure, nor adequate education.

It was only, that nations like South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan managed to become what they are now when they drastically reduced the population growth but maintained and even increased the economic growth. They are even more productive with less people than, let us say Nigeria.

To go back in the Philippines, which population sector is growing fastest? The poorest 20% who are unfortunately also the least educated (not equal to stupidity) and least productive and least attractive in monetary terms. From these sector also come the street children who will often end up as beggars. They will not be productive for the country.

More poor people = more prosperous country?

You should overthink your concept, Mangmang Tebobo.

di kasi narealize ng mga politician s na madaming kabataan ang magsasamantala at gagamit na rin ng contraceptives which is immoral…

    • artz555

The approved RH bill is restricting the use of contraceptives to only the needy families as determined by the government. Furthermore, only adults ( and not children ) who want to avail of these services will be given access to these devices. In fact the teaching of RH to certain children in school would need the consent of their parents.

The implementing rules and regulations to be issued by the government after the RH bill becomes law, should be able to safeguard the proper use of the RH devices to only those consenting  adults , and should restrict their use to others.

    • Luthmar

Hello, where have you been?  And you think our youngsters do not engage in sex?  On top of that they are not protected.  Look how many children are born out of wedlock.  They start to shack up so young, make lots of babies they cannot afford.  HIV AIDS is
becoming rampant because of unprotected sex.  Which is now immoral unprotected or
      protected sex.

  • indiosbravos2002

This is a waste of time. The sooner the bishops accept the fact that their influemce in the Philippne society has waned considerably, the sooner they can stand up and save the remaining flock. A million ribbons will mean nothing, particularly, if the funds for the project will come from the church. This will be merely a cheap stunt. 1 million ribbons at 1 peso each is ony PH 1 million. Very cheap and can easily be funded by the CBCP alone.

A more dramatic show of force will be to organize a rally. Get 10% of the population which could easily elect a Senator (around 9 million Catholics). Have them wear red and let the president know of their displeasure to the bill/law. The only problem I see here is that the church has no organizing power to even get 50 thousand warm bodies to attend a rally ( remember the Edsa anti RH rallies) — including hakot and students. Mainly because mainstream Catholics do not believe in the CBCP stand on the bill. There will be a few blind followere like the antiRH posters here but hey are more of the hardcore/ marginalized few.

  • speaksoftlylove

Very few people are aware that the word Testament in the Bible meaning a document affirming the covenant or agreement of mankind with the Divine, is actually a coded word which means – Test, Amen, and a letter T. Test means testing mankind’s Free Will. Amen is a twisted word by the religion to hide the truth. The Egyptian’s sun god Amun Ra is interchangeably spelled Amun, Omon, and Amen. So, all relegious dogma including that of the Hindus is actually praising or honoring the sun God Amun in their prayers. Cristianity and Judaism deliberately distorted the word Amen to mean, “So be it or truly” meaning affirmation of the Covenant. But the truth lies in the Bible itself which says that Amen simply means the “Hidden One.” Other than the fact that the obelisk symbolizes cohabitation between a male and female organ, Egyptian pagan culture also believes that Amun Ra dwells inside the obelisk and will come sometime in the future to join mankind. So, do we really have to believe that Jesus second coming is an original story? Think again. In short, Jesus story of Ascension and Second Coming is a rehashed story transferred from generation to generation and given a new plot in each time, age, or era. It is practically the same story copied from the Egyptian Pharaohs, the same story of ascension and return of the Mayan god Quazelcoat, the same story of the Inca’s deity Kukulcan. Surprise!

The letter T in the word Testament seems to be an appendage or inconsequential. Think again. It is not a letter T but a figure which gives mankind a choice of his destiny into the future, It is a road map, a path which splits into two paths cleverly spread by Christianity as Heaven and Hell. In other words, the coded word simply means that Amun Ra is giving mankind to use his free will and determine his destiny. The modern man found out later that what it really means is that our destiny has two Timeline paths. So they conducted experiments hidden from mankind to determine which path is the easy way out. In their Project Looking Glass experiments they found out that Timeline 1 is a horrible path because of galactic upheavals and that Timeline 2 is relatively peaceful and easy. So they decided to focus on Timeline 2. In the 80’s their experiments suddenly went awry. A horrible energy traveled through the Looking Glass and messed up the planet and is still messing up the planet as we speak. Only a person with exceptional psionic ability can solve the puzzle so they recruited several new members to solve the puzzle but to no avail until finally they brought in the last person to solve the puzzle named Bill Wood. Bill Wood told them that the people who studied the project are all correct in that at some point both timelines connect into one path called the “convergence zone”. In short, whichever path mankind chooses, mankind will still end up in the same Destiny. Knowing the consequence and the eventual reality they stop using the Looking Glass. However, the damage it brought cannot be undone at least as of this moment. so we are doomed. Looking back, the gospel of St.Peter which was declared by Vatican as heresy from the Bible, in which St. Peter claimed that Jesus Christ once confided to him that there is no such thing as hell and that mankind will be transformed, cleansed or purified, sinner or saint, before they will ultimate enter the Kingdom of God, makes a lot of sense why it is banned despite of the fact that St. Peter is the Rock where Jesus chose to build his Church. Believe it or not.

In short, all kinds of politics and religion is a farce. Their stories are hideously planned, scripted, and programmed to create a virtual reality for mankind to see for all time with end view of controlling mankind.

The Church’s authority is not the issue here.  It is just another organization opposing a law that contradicts its beliefs, which I believe they have all the right to do so.  Yes, we’re all entitled to free expression but respect, tolerance and openness are values that further strengthen democracy.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VPSXDLCQEZGZDJSX32G7PYHNCI Noel

They have the right to oppose a law.  But when the law is already passed and approved by majority of the Filipino people represented by the lawmakers, don’t you think the Catholic Church should shut up?  The Catholic Church doesn’t represent all Filipinos even if this country is predominantly Catholics.  In fact, many of the Catholics support the RH Bill.

I am a Catholic. And I went out with Catholic priests in the streets of Cebu (Colon, Sanchianko area) to give condoms to prostituted women. This is a program of some Catholic priest and NGOs  to protect prostituted women from  STD while and at the same time, convincing them to get out of that kind of work. Yes! Priests and condoms!

Rallying for life is to acknowledge the Author of life and death.  Just because a culture of death looms in the horizon, fighting for the recognition of God’s gift of life and love for all peoples, whether in life’s embryo stage, implanted stage, life in the womb, natal stage, infancy and childhood, adolescent stage, maturity stage, old age and declining life stage, that life is precious.  The government should have cared and nourished that life in accordance with the Constitution, protected it by appropriate laws, including criminal laws, and given due medical and social care to the sickly and ageing.  What it does now is not enough and, in desperation, see suppression of human births as the solution, forgetting that by improving the quality of life of its citizens, responsibility would naturally be exercised, even in family matters.

Attacking the Catholic church with similar arguments over and over again is just getting BORING.

    • amapangarap

attacking the RH bill by catholic priests specially during their sermon is even more nauseating.

  • lolobabes

This futile effort unfortunately will just further humiliate the church… Dont they still get it? Majority of Filipinos are in favor of the RH Bill! ahihihhii

The money for a million red ribbons would be enough to feed some orphans and street children, that would be worthwhile than this.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_D3LDMMAKC6UDQLDVFP2DGSJBXY Jezzrel

These people are encouraging the citizens to defy the law. Remember that this law passed through legislation. It passed contrary to what the Catholic Hierarchy wished in spite of their efforts to prevent it. The law-making process is to the government and religion is to the church. I other words, give unto Cesar what’s Cesar’s and to God what’s God’s. Why can’t they respect this but instead they are teaching defiance to the law?

Some commented that the money they will spend for the ribbon s is better given to the poor, and I agree with them.

What I would suggest is for the CBCP to plan  programs which will directly and definitely help the people economically by teaching people in the rural and remotest areas livelihood activities that will help the parents feed their children and teach them the RHYTHM METHOD OF CONTRACEPTION to control or manage the number of children they can feed and educate. I know that this is the only method that the church agrees, instead of teaching the people to defy a legitimately passed law.

Telling or calling the people not to vote for those lawmakers who voted for the passage of the RH bill into law is AN ACT OF VENGEANCE which is contrary to Catholicism.

    • Kathleen Abasolo

How about the money that would be spent on condoms and other contraceptives as espoused in the RH Bill? Wouldn’t it be better to spend it on livelihood programs, classrooms, books for our students, and teachers’ salaries?

      • amapangarap

another stooge of the catholic church

      • TotoyKalentong

Well the government is not only livelihood programs, classrooms, education and teachers salaries, name it! Following your argument shall we withhold funding for culture and the arts? sports? Because we can actually get by without funding those.

Why are the lowly bishops so NOISY?

  • fibromyalgia

To those who replied to my comment, saying I was playing at being holier than thou and/or saying that I am a Born-Again Christian attacking Catholics: I am neither of that.

I am unchurched. I do not belong to any religion. My faith does not fall under the control of any church organization.

I used to be a Catholic, grew up with nuns and priests, was trained to be a catechist, still help them in some of their missions up to now (media values education, feeding programs, other kinds of volunteer work). I have admitted to them that I am already unchurched, and in the goodness of their hearts and through the grace of God, they don’t make a fuss about it, for which I am much grateful.

Before anyone jumps to any conclusions again, being unchurched (at least, in my case, as I can only speak for myself) does not necessarily mean that I have no God. However, I do not see the need to belabor the point, particularly in having to proclaim who and what God is to me and my life. God knows me, each one of us, and knows what is in our hearts. That is sufficient.

If I have deeply offended anyone in this discussion thread, I apologize. That was never my intention. What I intended was to keep discussion tones civil, that is all.

RH bill equals responsible parenthood.Couples will stop bringing
children into this world they cannot afford to support and stop all
the social ills that is caused by a cycle of poverty. To everyone
opposed to the bill,it is your right to express your view but so far
we only hear your opposition. It is also your responsibility to
engage in a dialogue and develop programs to address the
    nations problem with poverty.
