Jealousy drives man to shoot lover, self
A 33-year-old man shot his girlfriend then shot himself in the stomach after they fought in the woman’s house in barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
Police said jealousy was the reason why the couple had a fight past 11 p.m. Friday.
Prior to the incident, the couple watched a basketball game at the barangay’s sports complex.
During the game, the woman cheered for a team composed of teenagers. It didn’t sit well with the man.
The man confronted the woman when he brought her home, PO2 Leroy Baguio of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office said.
While arguing, the man drew a .45 pistol and shot the woman in the abdomen before shooting himself, police said.
They were taken to separate hospitals in the city.
Police recovered the gun in the woman’s house.
