MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon “Pablo” (international codename: Bopha) just refuses to go away as it continues to stay within the Philippine Area of Responsibility, maintaining its strength and now threatening the Ilocos and La Union provinces, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

Signal No. 2 is up in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and La Union as Pablo heads east-northeast at 17 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in its 5 p.m.bulletin.

Signal No. 1 is up in Cagayan, Calayan group of islands, Babuyan group of islands, Batanes group of islands, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Benguet, Pangasinan, and Zambales, it said.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 15 to 25 millimeters per hour (heavy – intense) within the 400 km diameter of the typhoon.

Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under Signal Nos. 1 and 2 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under Signal No. 2 are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.

Fishing boats and other sea vessels are advised not to venture out into the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the western seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon.

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 p.m. Saturday.

Pablo wrought havoc mostly in the Visayas and Mindanao regions the first time around, claiming over 400 lives and destroying billions of pesos worth of property and crops.

President Benigno Aquino III has declared a state of national calamity to allow the speedy release of relief funds for the devastated areas.

People were also laughing during Noah’s time.
        History will soon repeat itself.

        Matthew 24
38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

Never seen one before !  typhoon Bopha seems to love PH very much ..Lol !

    • magiting78

Try to analyze the path of this typoon its not a u-turn. There were lots of factors why it happen i.e pressure, winds etc.

  • TheGUM

I’m not a forecaster. Perhaps I’m a worry wort at times.  But I’ve followed this Typhoon Bopha for the past 4 days/nights.  I’m beginning to understand this bad boy/girl of a weather event.  This time, I think, it will bring much needed rain to grow our rice crop, which is currently going thru the dry season.

Typhoon Bopha is trying to apologize now.  I hope it is.  Typhoon Bopha.  Die down, kid!  Just bring us much needed water!  Don’t hurt us anymore.

  • delpillar

Medyo may mali sa forecast ng PAGASA.

Bukas ng mga 4 to 6PM ng gabi, December 9 Philippine Time ay malamang nasa 70 to 45 km west of PAOAY, ILOCOS NORTE si Pablo.

Then, from that point, (hindi sya pupunta ng Batanes or Taiwan), bubulusok sya SOUTH-WEST papalayo na naman sa Philippine Shore, papunta na ng PANATAG SHOAL and South China Sea.

As of 6:00PM, Dec 8 Philippine Time, Typhoon PABLO is at:

    Latitude: 17 deg 40 min
    Longtitude: 118 deg 30 min
This is about 245km west of CABUGAO, ILOCOS NORTE

    Category: 2 Strong Typhoon
Direction moving EAST, NORTH-EAST at 20-km/hour

    Pressure: 955Hecto Pascal,
    Max Wind 40 meters/sec
    Gust: 60 meters per sec

Panatag Shoal is at 15 deg 15min 20 sec LATITUDE. and 117 deg, 46min 48 sec LONGTITUDE.

Abangan!

  • wawa2172

Well, its climate changes Filipinos and were getting the brunt of it. Typhoon Pablo is just a reminder of worst yet to come if we don’t protect our environment and prepare for it. From Ondoy, and two other tropical storm that hit Luzon to Sendong and now Pablo  well the more than dozen of it hitting the country in no more joke at all, it is for real. Thousand of lives wasted because of our inability to prepare well despite the warnings done. While the economy daw is getting better it is negated by the devastation of big cities like Iligan and Cagayan de Oro with Sendong and Davao Oriental with Pablo. Ang bagsik nang mga bagyong ito dito nakita ang abuso nang tao sa kalikasan na dahil sa walang habas na pamumutol nang kahoy sa bundok at sobrang pagmimina we are now suffering landslide and mud floods with cut logs in raging rivers. We have to prepare well before any typhoon visits the country. It is predictable and people can be educated about typhoon and other calamities.

    • tagahuron

Stop this baloney climate change. It is being used to promote UN control on countries such as carbon taxation among others. Mother earth has experienced thousands of natural disasters in the past.

      • wawa2172

Well UN may have another purpose on climate change and of course its supporting carbon taxation that was dumped by the US and other super power nations. But I believe in this so called climate change as typhoon path have change a lot. Its a basic principle like the powerful storm that hit Davao Oriental in Pablo while Iligan City for the first time in  thousand of years was hit by a typhoon in Sendong. Both storm cross the center of Mindanao island that never happened before. Carbon emission has change our climate a lot so kahit walang pang UN declaration we should be concern about it.

Be prepared Pabillo to meet thy amicus.

    • manny

      • UrHONOR

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_LFQCCGSJWSMP4I7AY4RBYSDDQI Isko

What a weather phenomenon! Well, I hope that Typhoon Pablo would not make anymore landfall here and just stay in West Philippine Sea for as long as it takes to drive away those intruding Chinese ships.

  • delpillar

Humina ng konti si Pablo…. Category 1 Typhoon na lang sya:

As of 9:00PM, Dec 8 Philippine Time, Typhoon PABLO is at:

    Latitude: 17 deg 55 min
    Longtitude: 118 deg 58 min
This is about 150 km west of BATAC, ILOCOS NORTE

    Category: 1 Strong Typhoon

Direction moving EAST, NORTH-EAST at 15-km/hour
Pressure: 965Hecto Pascal, (981 to 984 Hecto-Pascal is the boarder line for a typhoon to become just a LOW-PRESSURE area)
    Max Wind 30 meters/sec
    Gust: 50 meters per sec

Bukas ng late afternoon to evening ay magiging 5 km west of BURGOS LIGHTHOUSE sa Burgos town, Ilocos Norte si Typhoon Pablo. Then magno-nose-dive sya SouthWest papalayo ng Ilocos shoreline, possibly papuntang PANATAG SHOAL. Maaaring before tamaan ang PANATAG shoal ay matutunaw si Pablo at magiging Low Pressure Area (LPA) na lang sya, most probably sa Lune ng gabi.

Panatag Shoal is at 15 deg 15min 20 sec LATITUDE. and 117 deg, 46min 48 sec LONGTITUDE.

    • bugoybanggers

TS has a wind speed of 40 to 73 Miles per hour or  65-115Km/hour.
90-km/hour can already be very dangerous kahit sa malalaking barko, how much more sa fishing vessels.

        2. maaaring LPA (Tropical Depression) na lang sya
But LPA can still have a maximum wind of 60 km/hour (39 Miles per hour) or about 18 meters/sec. This 18 meters/sec wind is still dangerous to all types of fisshing vessels.

  • JosengSisiw1

  • m1600

mga taga Ilocos handa na kayo kay Bopha its not the wind that will do the damaged but the water especially to low lying areas like pangasinan,  and tarlac .

This Typhoon Bopha seems to love PH very much . never seen one making a u-turn before !

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/HTBCRBRGCOZNYQQJIW6RPYDBRI Greno

i hope this time people will heed to the warnings and participate without resistance to whatever the disaster team will tell them to do.  After what pablo has done to mindanao, a lesson we all wish be learnt and so history wont repeat itself all over again. a death toll of considerable quantity that leave us wondering how could these people so complacent and distrustful of the weather forecast after all the calamities our country had been hit in the past 5 yrs.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/TL3HDMZCZBZM2PFGWBYRJA7HRU Mikael

People forgot all about Ondoy it seems. So, wish all you want about not forgetting about Pablo but I promise you: People will forget as they always do.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/TL3HDMZCZBZM2PFGWBYRJA7HRU Mikael

As I said before, nothing was learned from Ondoy and nothing will be learned from Pablo either.

    • INQ_reader

Could you give example of what your learned from Ondoy?

      • http://www.thehalloffame.wikidot.com/ Thomas Jefferson

That mining companies destroy everything they touch.

      • INQ_reader

Marikina was one of those greatly destroyed, are there mining activities there?

  • tagahuron

It is the illegal logging and mining that contributed more to the loss of lives of many Filipinos. These illegal activites has been there since 30 years or so ago and the national and local governments have done nothing to stop this becuase they were all involved one way or another. I remember the Ormoc flash floods in the 1990’s and it was not a typhoon. But the same logs and mud rushed down from the mountains and killed thousands of people. Filipinos never learn. I hope this time this tragedy will not turn into another finger pointing by government officials and filipinos in general. I still yet to see a SINGLE PERSON getting indicted and convicted because of illegal logging.

  • INQ_reader

Hayan!

china, usa, europe, these countries that make up the largest carbon footprint changed the face of the world.  their industrialization brought about the creation of monsters such as this, yet they are not accountable for their actions.  they knew this fact, that is why they where the first ones to give alms to further deceive us that this calamity is natural.

when nostradamus said that the world is ending in 2012, he could have been more specific and indicated that it was only applicable for a certain country in the east.

    • GKLer

Nostradamus predicted WW III would start in 1999…. He is a fraud…a false prophet.
