Cebu City seniors to receive P4,000 Christmas gift

CEBU City’s senior citizens will each receive their P4,000 cash assistance today as an early Christmas gift from the city government.

The cash will be distributed starting 8 a.m. in all barangay halls of the city’s 80 barangays, said Roland Llagono Jr., head of the Office for the Senior Citizens (OSCA).

Those who fail to claim it today can still go to the city treasurer’s office (CTO) at City Hall. They have 15 working days to do so otherwise the assistance will be forfeited, he said.

Those who are bedridden and too ill to appear personally to collect can send their relatives to report their physical condition to the CTO. A government disbursing officer will be sent to their home to deliver the cash within 15 days.

Llagono said OSCA and CTO will no longer honor a Special Power of Attorney for the release of cash assistance to proxies.

OSCA has registered about 70, 000 senior ciizens in Cebu City of which 54,848 qualify for the annual assistance of P7,000.

The city government released P3,000 to each senior citizen last June and August.

The second release of the P4,000 balance will be given today. Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
