More News from Philippine Daily Inquirer
Two women’s attempt to rob a fisherman of his cell phone and pocket money landed them in jail in Malabon Tuesday.
The Malabon police identified the two as Gladys Cruz, 38, and Marianne Cruz, 35, both residents of Barangay Longos, Malabon City.
It was not immediately known if the two were related. Investigation showed that the victim, Edmon Santua, was walking on C4 Road in Longos at 2 a.m. when the two, coming from different directions, approached him.
They then discreetly took the man’s cell phone and wallet from his pocket but the victim sensed it and chased the two as they ran away after taking their loot.
Santua eventually caught up with Marianne and brought her to a group of patrolling police from the Longos Community Precinct.
The police then found and arrested Gladys who returned the cell phone to the victim. The police are now preparing theft charges against the two. Nathaniel R. Melican
