Nigeria Islamists slaughter 10 Christians in north

KANO, Nigeria – Ten Christians had their throats slit and militants killed two police officers during attacks on churches and border posts in a fresh wave of violence in northern Nigeria, officials reported Sunday.

The Islamist group Boko Haram was thought to be behind the slaughter of the Christians late on Saturday in the northern town of Chibok, local officials said.

“The attackers came in around 9:00 pm chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’, which made us suspect they are Boko Haram,” said a local government official on condition of anonymity.

“They moved into selected homes in the predominantly Christian part of the town and slaughtered 10 people like sheep,” the official added.

“Who else apart from Boko Haram members would go into homes and slit the throats of 10 people?” said another local official.

“They came armed with guns but decided to butcher their victims.”

Local resident Ezekiel Damina said: “The men came in large numbers and went into homes which… were carefully selected, and slaughtered 10 people while shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is Greatest).

“They then set houses in the area on fire. They just sacked the neighbourhood.”

The group was also suspected of being behind a series of attacks Sunday on churches and border posts in northeastern Nigeria, which according to residents left at least two policemen dead.

Around 50 gunmen in cars and on motorcycles carried out attacks on three churches and border posts with neighbouring Cameroon, opening fire on police, residents said.

Among the security posts burned were offices for immigration, customs and the secret police and a quarantine building in the city of Gamboru Ngala, about 140 kilometers (80 miles) from the Boko Haram stronghold of Maiduguri.

Gunmen went into town “chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ and burned down the divisional police station and three churches,” said Hamidu Ahmad, a resident.

“I saw two bodies in police uniform not far from the police station. One of them was sprawled by the roadside while the other was seated in a police van,” another resident, Sani Kani said.

Another local witness gave the same report but said it was not immediately clear whether worshippers had been in the churches at the time of the attacks.

Residents reported gun battles between the assailants and police reinforcements who arrived from Maiduguri.

Police and the army could not immediately be reached for comment.

Boko Haram has often targeted churches in its bloody insurgency, as well as police and other symbols of the establishment in Nigeria.

On November 25, 11 people were killed in twin suicide bombings targeting a church at a military barracks in the northern town of Jaji.

Violence linked to the Boko Haram insurgency in northern and central Nigeria is believed to have left some 3,000 people dead since 2009, including killings by the security forces.

Two weeks ago leaflets were circulated around Gamboru Ngala by suspected Islamists saying that women were required to wear the Muslim veil and banning the sale of cigarettes, residents said.

“A tailor named Adamu was shot dead last week by some suspected Boko Haram members for making clothes for women the group consider obscene,” said resident Hajara Umar.

Boko Haram, which can be loosely translated from the northern Hausa language as “Western education is a sin”, has claimed many attacks in northern and central parts of Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and top oil producer.

Nigeria’s population of some 160 million is roughly divided between the mainly Muslim north and the predominantly Christian south.

Christians in the areas should arm themselves and hunt these boko haram terrorists! bury those a*holes alive!

  • VicenteBoticol

The Muslim Religion is the most violent in this world. This religion should be banned worldwide.

  • gregory robinson

“Christians are useless and expendable”, and “the only GOOD Christian is a DEAD Christian” Thanks to the liberal low life media and its politicians, these are the messages that the whole world is hearing. I’m surprised Inquirer even reported about this.

  • tamumd

The price and perils of the evils that an institution like religion could do to people. According to the famous physicist Steven Weinberg – ‘with or without religion, good people will do good deeds, evil people evil. But for good people to do evil deeds, they only need religion”.

    • beerhunters

      exactly!

  • MULEN

This is no longer considered isolated incident. Violence perpetrated by Muslims against non- Muslims happen in every country where they have sizable population. Islam as a religion should be banished from the face of the earth.

  • wawa2172

The son of Hamas leader who defected to Israel said that islam is a religion of war and violence and not of peace. While the world culture is changing, Islam have chosen to live in its barbaric stage. Allah if he is on earth today could have prevented his believers not to do the killing as it is against the law of god. Peaceful existence on earth cannot be attain because of the old belief that religion in the master of everything. Cutting the throats of believers is inhuman as Allah did not teach the Islamist to do it to be martyred. Surely, you one cannot be accepted in paradise or heaven if you kill humans who where created by God. Only evil can cut the throat of innocent people because of their religious belief. Blessed is the soul of those who died innocently because of the evil deeds of others who can just cut the throat of others as if they are just chicken and not humans.

You are right wawa2172, By their fruits or deeds ye shall know them. . .

  • randyaltarejos

This is blatant call for Christians in that country to fight back and defend themselves from being slaughtered. Do the same to those who slit your throats. “A tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye.” They think for themselves as untouchables and a super religious deonomination in the world.

    • tamumd

Well great..what a brilliant idea! Very christian indeed. Tsk, tsk.

      • Facilitator1

I agree with you that’s very un-Christian attitude but the question is HOW WOULD YOU PROTECT YOUR FAMILY and SELF without resorting/using deadly means? PEACE…

      • tamumd

Heck if I were them….I would have bolted as fast as I could away from that place and moved to some place where the people are not hostile to them. I’m not going to wait until they slit my and my family’s throat for nothing. Period.

      • Facilitator1

Using your LOGIC, the moment someone THREATEN your safety or your family because MAYBE they don’t LIKE your RELIGION, your CULTURE, the way you DRESS or the FOOD you EAT, etc. your immediate action is to LEAVE or get-out of dodge?

It’s EASY to say this to avoid deadly confrontations/situations but is it feasible? How many times in your lifetime will you pack and move to another place because you don’t like confrontations and very unwilling to DEFEND yourself and family or JUSTIFIABLE VIOLENCE against your fellow man? I’m not a WAR-FREAK but even a RAT will FIGHT BACK when cornered…

YES–You can always rely on BIG BROTHER but BIG BROTHER isn’t DEPENDABLE–most specially, when you need him. Big BROTHER might come to your rescue/aid but usually after the violence is done/over–when you’re dead and cold…

IMHO: the only way to STOP violence either perpetuated and /or accomplished by MUSLIMS or NON-MUSLIMS is for the WORLD to join together and condemn/renounce TERRORISM at all cost!!! PEACE…

      • tamumd

Apparently this incident in Nigeria is not  just a bluff or a threat as you put it. What the CBCP do all the time is an empty threat. Those people in Nigeria mean business and they don’t have any qualms to put their plans into action.

By any means…fight back if you don’t want to see the light of the day anymore! No one is preventing you. How many times I have avoided confrontations….many times. I actually choose my battles. Those that not worth it don’t deserve my time and energy.

I dunno who is the  big brother you’re referring to. If you’re referring to some imaginary deity. Well wake up he is not showing up at all..ever. lol

We can condemned them as much as we want…..for as long as this religion or any follower of any religion for that matter continue to be closed minded and harbor fundamentalist tendencies, violence like this would continue to occur. It happened in the catholic church before. Even in Northern Ireland it is still happening.

      • Facilitator1

BIG BROTHER is the government, the POLICE or the ARMY. Not the DIETY…

YES, Like you I do choose and pick my battles. Avoiding unnecessary, deadly confrontation is the most logical thing to do. Running away from SURE DEATH is not cowardice. IMHO: There will come a time in a man’s life that you need to draw the line (per se) and defend yourself and your family. THIS IS WHAT I MEANT–not arbitrary BRAVADO or FALSE PRIDE…

THE murdered 10 Nigerian Christians were probably thinking they were in a SAFE PLACE–a predominantly Christian part of the town. So your advice of moving to another place doesn’t apply in their case. And if they’ll follow your advice–where would they move? To another country?

As you insuanated and I agree with you, VIOLENCE in the name of RELIGION is totally unacceptable and no amount of CONDEMNATION is enough to PREVENT extremists from repeating their dastardly deeds. In my view, the only VIABLE course of action is PUNITIVE, CORPORAL punishments against them–don’t you think “a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye” is more appropriate now?  PEACE

      • tamumd

You’ve read up top that those big brothers you’re referring to where there to help..but they themselves were shot by this crazy bunch.

Nope.. this incident happened in the northern part Nigeria..the stronghold of the Islamic militants and fundamentalist elements of Nigerian society. So these victims could have move out of there and settled in the southern part where the christian majority resides.
I am with you with punitive consequences..not just corporal I say death penalty. Who ever kills someone deserve the same fate. Why would we waste our resources of feeding them and keeping them alive when they are the bad elements of our society. Only the previous administration catering to the whims of the catholic church abolished death penalty in our country. It should be reinstituted back.

      • vinzerx

You can run, sure, but remember that you’re not the only one who could run. Who’s to say that these extremists (I won’t call them Muslims because I know true Muslims to be good people) won’t follow you wherever you go?

      • tamumd

Sure they could follow you…but if you move to a place where they are not the majority and they are not welcomed. They would think twice before carrying out their evil plans. Apparently Southern Nigeria are christian domain and the north is where the fundamentalist muslims live. So I would move out of there.

  • No Mind

This is how religion becomes false religion. In the apocalypse world, the four horsemen shall become the berdugo of innocents. How these spirits uses different religions to slaughter mankind is only a manifestation that the word of God really exist, and believe it or not, it is all true!

    • tamumd

Funny how you think theirs the false religion…and yet they also think your’s the false one. Hence all this bloodshed. The issue here is religion is the evil one in general. It makes otherwise reasonable, educated people so narrow-minded that they only see their side as the legitimate truth. That’s where the danger comes in.

Islam is a “lie” and its god (Allah) is the father of it. Its “teachings” are cloaked in treachery and deceptions. These are all consolidated in “Qur’an” in written form. Some Arab scholars have proven the “dark side” of Islam, and their (Arab scholars) respected findings attested to the barbaric nature of its doctrine. Kamal Saleem, for example, said that Islam allows every Muslim  to practice “taqqiya” (lying) just to advance the cause of “jihad” in whatever form in order to establish the Islamic Shari’a in a conquered territory and subjugate people (non-Muslims).

Kamal Saleem is now a Christian and he is reaching out to all Muslims to seek the “truth” and shun the “lies”; to be with the “light” and keep away from “darkness” and to side with “good” and abandon the “evil”. Saleem has confirmed that Qur’an is the corruption of the Holy Bible.

Anyone can do his own research on Kamal Saleem on the internet as well as on you tube.

The GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob may bless us all.

Ah yes, religion. See how progressive it makes humanity, eh? There was also a time when Christians burned ‘witches’ at the stake. Indeed God is great. I’m not sure about the followers though.
