Durabend, Cebu Homebuilders extend semis series

THE SEMIFINALS of the 2012 United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) 3rd Corporate Cup will go the distance as both Durabend and Cebu Homebuilders won over their respective opponents to forge a rubbermatch this Sunday at the Benedicto College along AS Fortuna Street in Mandaue City.

Cebu Homebuilders leaned on a fantastic start to frustrate the second-seeded Boysen, 80-70, while Durabend outlasted the defending champions Unitec, 84-83, in overtime in an intense match marred by a free-for-all in the second period.

Marvin Siatong donned the hero’s cape as he escaped the defense of Unitec in the dying seconds and broke away for the game-winning layup with 0.1 of a second remaining. Unitec was still up one and had possession but Criz Matunog missed on his baseline jumper. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
