Barangay councilor hurt in Aloguinsan shooting

A COUNCILOR in Aloguinsan town, western Cebu was shot and wounded inside his house last Wednesday night.

Rosario barangay councilor Leonardo Campanilla, 54, survived the attack.

Police said Campanilla and his friend Celerina Dela Cerna were talking in his house when an armed man barged in and shot the barangay official in the stomach.

The assailant fled on a motorcycle.

Campanilla was brought to a hospital for treatment. Dela Cerna was unhurt, said police.

Campanilla had some enemies in the place, said PO2 Vincent Alquesa of Aloguinsan police.

Alquesa said investigators are suspecting that the victim knew his attacker but he refused to identify him for fear of retaliation./ Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito
