Tagbilaran official shot dead

A barangay captain of Tagbilaran City in Bohol was shot dead Monday afternoon.

Marcelo Epe, alias Amar, of barangay Tiptip died on the spot due to gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body.

A report by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bohol said that Epe, together with barangay secretary Jebb Telmo and messenger Gaciano Sibalos Jr., were having snacks at a barbecue stand in front of a basketball court when the two suspects on a motorcycle suddenly appeared and the back rider shot the victim several times.

Recovered from the crime scene were six spent shells of caliber .45, two spent bullets and a slug.

Personnel of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) declared Epe dead on the spot.

Chief Inspector Rene Kyamko, CIDG-Bohol head,  said they were still determining the motive of the killing. Police are looking into a political angle.

Kyamko said they were coordinating with the Bohol Provincial Police Office and the victim’s family to fast track the investigation.
