Gov’t findings on Robredo plane crash brought ‘closure’, says wife

MANILA, Philippines – The widow of Jesse Robredo, former secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government, said Tuesday that the government findings on the cause of the plane crash in August brought closure to the case and hoped that the results would pave the way for saving more lives, especially for airline passengers.
Written in Filipino, Leni Robredo said that she was not disappointed with results of the government’s investigation of the crash that killed her husband last August 18, saying she trusted the government right from the start to come up with a “fair, detailed and complete” report.
“This whole process has given me closure, and while the lessons of this incident are painful, I am hopeful that this will pave the way for many lives to be saved and for the greater safety of airline passengers,” she said.
Mrs. Robredo said she did not blame anyone for the tragedy and “preferred not to think of the negative”.
She said that while her husband’s death “was sudden and a loss to all she knew that Jesse was ready to face God”.
She said her husband lived “a full and honourable life and while he could have done more, it was God’s wish to take him.”
Mrs. Robredo said that the love the people have for her husband would be what would push her to move on to continue his advocacies and to fulfil his dreams.
Mrs. Robredo is running for a congressional seat in the May 2013 elections.
