Manhunt on for 7 Quezon jail escapees

MANILA, Philippines—Police said a manhunt operation was ongoing seven inmates who escaped from a jail in Quezon province before dawn Thursday.

An initial report from the Polilio Municipal Police Station said that seven detainees from its Lock-Up Jail in Barangay (village) Poblacion in Polilio, Quezon, escaped from their cell around 2:30 a.m.

The escapees were identified as Mark Anthony, 18 (in robbery); Leoven Bo, 24 (robbery case); Arnold John Montano, 19 (robbery and illegal possession of deadly weapon cases); Melchor Buegis, 43 (murder case); Santos Penascusas (rape case); Arwel Grispor, 33 (theft case); and Merlito Bo, 26 (illegal possession of deadly weapon case).

The report said the fugitives made their escape by sawing the round steel bar of their detention cell.—Jamie Marie Elona

    Kaya walang silbi kulong sa mga kriminal sa atin. Ilang beses na itong nangyayari sa Quezon province? Kada taon na lang me nakakatakas, o pinapatakas sa mga kulungan diyan. Bibigyan na naman ninyo ng pagkakataon mga kriminal na yan maghasik ng lagim. Kaya dapat iniligpit na pagkatapos mahuli.
