The Fadhila – Virtues of 10th day of Dhul Hijjah

Allah Subhanaho wataala  says in the Holy Quran in Surah Al-Fajr, ayat (1): By the Down, By the Ten night, by the Even and Odd (contrasted), and by the night when it passeth away, as there (not) in these and adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand (Qur’an, Surah alfajr, ayat 1,2,3,4,5).

It has been narrated to one of the Hadith of prophet Mohammad:  Peace be upon him, that Allah has chosen on every year, three 10th days. First the last 10 days of Ramadhan when there is the blessing of the (Lailatul Qad’r) night of power; second, the 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah, known locally as Hariraya Hajji, when Allah has provided the day of Tarwiyah, the time when the prophet Abraham was  thinking of  his three-time dream to fulfill his promise before Allah  to slaughter his son the  Prophet Ismael is Allah’s Commandment and not by the Shaitan. Al-waq’fa of the assembly of pilgrims from all over the world in Arafah Mecca  Saudi Arabia.  The Hajj or Pilgrimage to Baitullah Al Haram House of God, Mecca Saudi Arabia. The third is the 10th day of Moharram.

The Other Fadhila – Virtue of the 10th days of Dhul-Hijja corresponds to Oct.  26, 2012,   the celebration of EIDEL-AD’HA  which is considered the commitment of the Muslims to Allah and readiness to forsake  material interest in his services.

The ten-day Eid is to acquaint the pilgrims with the spiritual and historical environment of the prophet Mohammad  so that they may derive warm inspiration and strength of  faith.

Muslims have to commemorate the divine rituals observed by Abraham and Ismael, who are known as the first pilgrims to the first house of God on earth the KAABAH at mecca, Saudi Arabia.

On this very day of judgment when people will stand equal before God, waiting for their final destiny, and where no superiority of race or stocks can be claimed, neither will  royalty but loyalty of all to God. There is no aristocracy but humility and devotion. It is a reminder that Makkah was honored by God (Allah) being the center of monotheism till the end of time.

The celebration is not only the meat or blood that pleases God. It is the expression of thankfulness to him, the affirmation of faith in him that the historic event when the prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) was ordered to offer his son in sacrifice, an order which the father and son were ready to obey unquestioningly.

But the son’s life was spared and ransomed by a ram. The offering of sacrifice has become an annual celebration to commemorate the occasion. Thanks to God for his favors. The Muslims believe that it was Ismael not Isaac (Ishaq).

The other virtues are pilgrimage to Baitullah at Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is a Muslim’s  duty to perform pilgrimage to the House of Allah once in his  lifetime. But it is permissible to him to do pilgrimage voluntarily more than once.

Pilgrimage has many benefits.

(1) In fulfilling this service, man expresses his devotion to Allah, not only by performing rites which need physical effort, but he also expresses  his deep spiritual devotion to Allah and spends  money for His sake.

(2) Pilgrimage is an annual Muslim congress attended by Muslims from all over the world. Allah Subhanaho wataala  says in the Holy Quran: “Pilgrimage there  is a duty men owe to Allah, those who can afford the journey, but if any deny faith, Allah stands not in need of any of his Creatures (Al-Imran-97). Prophet Mohammad  said “a person who performs the Pilgrimage during which he/she neither indulges in lewdness nor abuse, such a person returns duly purified as if born by his mother on that very day.
