An International Police (Interpol) report led customs officials and members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to the arrest of Napoporn Khamsa , 40, and seizure of 6.7 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu, hidden in the compartment of her luggage.
The seized drugs had an estimated street value of P30 million.
Tess Roque, Bureau of Customs collector for passenger services, said the Thai woman arrived at the Naia’s Terminal 1 at 5:15 p.m. on an Emirates Air flight (EK332) from Dubai.
Roque said that as soon as they got the information from PDEA of a suspected drug mule carrying illegal drugs, airport officials isolated her from the rest of the passengers for examination.
After a thorough search, the shabu was found in her luggage. “The substance later tested positive for shabu,” Roque said.
The Thai woman was brought to the headquarters of PDEA for filing of charges.
PDEA is verifying reports that the Thai national is a courier for the international drug syndicate known as West African Drug Syndicate.
