Hoopers rip IBP-B in Picpa hoopfest

THE Hoopers trounced favored IBP-B, 72-64, Wednesday night for its first win in three outings (1-2) in the ongoing elimination round of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)-2012 basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.

The Hoopers posted a single-digit lead in the opening quarter and unloaded a 26-18 run in the second for a commanding 12-point lead, 40-28, at the half.

IBP-B however, responded with a 16-11 rally in the third to close the gap at, 44-51 entering the final quarter.

In the fourth, Hoopers skipper Yoly Meso ignited a big endgame spark where he scored all of his 13 points for the 8-point victory.

Andre Tocao and Khan Guieb scattered a game-high 20 and 19 points, respectively to power the Hoopers, while Kirby Raboy and Reiner Apolinario paced IBP-B (2-1) with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Earlier, IBP-Gwapo of Bads Del Prado led from start to finish in routing winless Zafiro, 77-41, for its 2nd win in three games (2-1).

Ferdie Riveral led IBP-Gwapo with a game-high 18 points, as three other teammates, Bads Del Prado, Estong Narido and Baguio added double figures each. Walter Ducay and Jun Vallespin paced Zafiro with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
