FEATURED STORIES

Sisters teams Meralco Bolts and Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters try to sustain their hot streak when they play separate opponents today in the 38th PBA Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena

The Bolts gun for a third straight victory against the winless Global Port Batang Pier, while the Texters stake unbeaten record versus the Air21 Express.

Since absorbing a close 110-112 overtime loss against the Texters, the Bolts have gone on a mini-tear after scoring back-to-back wins against the Alaska Aces and the Barangay Ginebra Kings.

Meralco head coach Ryan Gregorio said they must display the same defensive intensity they showed  in their last two outings if they have to get past Batang Pier.

“We must make sure that we sustain our intensity on defense. The same defensive mind-set exhibited against Alaska and Ginebra is required to continue our winning streak,” Gregorio told pba.ph.

Although Global Port is mired at the bottom of the standings with a 0-3 (win-loss) card, the Bolts are not taking team lightly.

“They are fighting to get their first win and that makes them very dangerous,” said Gregorio.

The Texters, meanwhile, will be gunning for the solo top spot against the Express, who are still smarting from a one-point loss against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
