MANILA, Philippines—Nearly a hundred Muslims gather at Mendiola, the section where protesters gather, on Monday to witness the signing of the peace deal forged between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front at the Malacañang Palace, police said.

The District Tactical Operations Center of the Manila Police District said roughly 100 persons are at Mendiola as of 1:50 p.m. to witness the signing of the agreement that will pave way for the establishment of a new political entity called Bangsamoro, replacing the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Luzon and Visayas have been placed under heightened alert status Thursday in anticipation of foreign dignitaries and visitors who will attend the signing of the Framework Agreement, but said that no particular threat was monitored.
