Pacquiao bodyguard stabbed dead in GenSan
GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – A close-in bodyguard of world boxing champ and Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao was stabbed dead allegedly by the jealous ex-lover of a female friend Sunday night.
Senior Police Officer Rey Edradan, a member of the Sarangani police office, died of multiple stab wounds at a local hospital here, based on a report prepared by the Makar police station.
Based on investigation, Edradan was entering the house of Rowena Cabaniog inside the Doña Soledad Subdivision in Barangay Labangal past 11 p.m. when he was attacked by the suspect, supposedly her former live-in partner and whose identity the police were withholding.
Witnesses said that after stabbing the police officer, the suspect even helped in sending him to a hospital before fleeing, forcibly taking Cabaniog and her two children with him.
Police investigators said jealousy might have prompted the attack on Edradan, a visiting police officer.
A manhunt has been launched to find the suspect, who works with the Labangal village government.
