De Oro war: It’s Moreno vs Emano for mayor

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—Misamis Oriental Gov. Oscar Moreno has decided to challenge Mayor Vicente Emano.

Moreno on Wednesday filed his certificate of candidacy for mayor amid chants from his supporters.

Moreno is on his last term as governor.

Emano’s son, Misamis Oriental second district Rep. Yevgeny Emano, is running for governor. He faces his father’s former ally, Norris Babiera.

Wayne Militante is Babiera’s running mate and will face Joey Pelaez, son of former Vice President Emmanuel Pelaez.

Rep. Peter Unabia is running for a second term as congressman in the first district, this time under the Liberal Party (LP). Unabia used to be an Emano ally.

In the second district, Jesus Jardin (LP) is seeking the congressional seat against Agusto Baculio, an Emano protégé.

Emano’s daughter, Nadia Emano-Elipe, is also running for her second term as city councilor while her husband, councilor President Elipe, is also running for the city council for a third term. Bobby Lagsa, Inquirer Mindanao
