BACOLOD CITY—The wife of Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez has asked a Quezon City court to annul her marriage and has been granted a temporary protection order (TPO) to keep the congressman away from their marital home.

The lawyer of Soraya Jaafar-Golez, Howard Calleja, and a Court sheriff  went to the Golez home in Capitolville, Bacolod City, on Friday to serve the TPO but were told the congressman had already left with a companion for Manila.

Quezon City Regional Court Branch 106 Judge Angelene Mary Quimpo Sale issued the TPO on Sept. 12 after Soraya  filed a civil case against the congressman for “Declaration of Absolute Nullity of Marriage With Application for the Issuance of a Temporary/ Permanent Protection Order.”

Calleja and Sheriff Ligaya Tupaz first went to the Golez residence early in the afternoon.  They returned at 7:30 p.m. and  padlocked the house.

Rumors about a romantic relationship between Representative Golez and the estranged wife of Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III, former beauty queen Jewel May Lobaton, have been swirling since late last year when the senator announced his separation from his wife. With a report from Julie M. Aurelio
