Pael fights Batinggal tonight

SIQUIJOR — Rajah Renoel Pael (9W-0L-1D, 4 KOs) of the Princesa Bulakna Resort of Maria, Siquijor will defend his Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) bantamweight title tonight before his hometown fans against Arlon “Turbo” Batinggal (6W-4L, 3 KOs) of Butuan City’s Don Punch Stable at the municipal gym of Siquijor.

The undefeated Pael acquired his PBF belt last May 10 when he stopped Roger Echavez in seven rounds in Lazi, Siquijor. In his last fight, Pael beat the previously undefeated Louie Arlos of Bacolod City by split decision in a non-title bout held in Compostela, Cebu last July 22. Batinggal won against Michael Bastasa by unanimous decision in his last fight in Agusan del Sur last July 25.

Set to appear on the undercards are JR Salvador of the Phil-Aust Gym of Mandaue City vs. Richard Rosales of Bohol (6 rounds), Alvin Aresgado of Siquijor vs. Michael Beron of Bohol (6 rds) and Bryan Samson of Siquijor vs. Jerome Baja of the Phil-Aust Gym (4 rds).

The boxers made the stipulated weight during official weigh-in held at the Siquijor Provincial Health Office supervised by Rolando Mendoza and Celso Miranda of GAB-Cebu.

The card billed as “Bakbakan sa Araw ng Siquijor” is promoted by RWS Promotions and sponsored by the Siquijor Provincial Government. Fight time is 7 p.m.
