Santiago hits Cabinet execs who failed to attend hearingBy Matikas Santos
MANILA, Philippines — Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, who will investigate former undersecretary Rico Puno, started the hearing shortly after her arrival Friday although she took time to criticize Cabinet officials who failed to attend.
She also slammed critics who said she could not hold the hearing because there was no resolution.
Before hearing started, Senator Alan Cayetano arrived.
Puno, who is facing an investigation into allegations of graft and corruption, arrived earlier.
Santiago’s committee on constitutional amendments and revisions of codes and laws, will spearhed the investigation.
Also present are Philippine National Police chief Ricardo Bartolome and Archbishop Oscar Cruz.
