Gunman kills tanod, wounds housewife

A GUNMAN who couldn’t find his enemy shot dead instead his enemy’s friend, a barangay tanod, in  barangay Kanguha, Dumanjug town in southern Cebu.

Romulo Sardido died after he was shot in the forehead last Sunday.

The gunman Bobby dela Cerna of Argao town,  fled after the attack.

A bystander, 26-year-old housewife Meljoen Cabase, was also wounded in the shooting.

The bullet which struck Sardido exited at the back of his head and ricocheted from the ground, hitting the woman in  the chest  as she stood  four meters  away.

The woman was watching a variety show at the basketball court at 9 p.m. when Dela Cerna arrived looking for Juvy Cababat, who was a friend of Sardido.

Dela Cerna, who was armed with a handgun, was trying to settle a score with Cababat who was earlier accused of shooting Dela Cerna’s friend, a certain Gutana.

When the assailant couldn’t find Cababat, he turned his ire on Sardido and shot him in  the head.

Police who were pursuing Dela Cerna said he was a suspect in a murder case in Argao town./Reporter Rhea Ruth V. Rosell
