Davao del Sur mayor survives ambush

DIGOS CITY – The mayor of Sarangani town in Davao del Sur was ambushed Thursday evening by unidentified men, an official of the League of Mayors of Davao del Sur said.
Although Mayor Jerry Cawa was not hurt, one of his two escorts was wounded in the 6 p.m. attack, said Nida Ramos, LMP-Davao del Sur secretary.
Ramos said Cawa was on his way home from Barangay (village) Batungangding when the suspects fired at the vehicle he was driving.
The wounded escort was not identified.
