Game today (Cebu Coliseum)
5 p.m. – CEC vs. USC (Jrs.)
THE University of San Carlos Baby Warriors and the Cebu Eastern College Dragons will both go for broke today as they dispute the last ticket to the semifinals in the juniors division of the 12th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
With their backs against the wall, the 2010 champions, Dragons, found the will to keep their season alive when they thrashed the Baby Warriors, 83-70, in their quarterfinal match last Sunday. The win took away USC’s twice-to-beat advantage, thus setting up today’s rubbermatch.
The winner of today’s game will get to join early qualifiers, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles, the defending champions University of the Visayas Baby Lancers and the 2009 champions, Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildkittens.
The collegiate semifinals cast has also been completed with the “Final Four” being the reigning champions, University of Cebu Webmasters, the top-seeded UV Green Lancers, the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars and the Southwestern University Cobras.
The semis battles start next week with teams playing a single round-robin where the top two finishers at the end of the round will advance to the best-of-five championship.
