Transport group seeks fare hike within the year

MANILA, Philippines—The militant transport group Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston) is definitely filing a separate petition for a fare rate increase within the year, an official of the group said on Wednesday.
Piston, however, has yet to determine the timing of the filing of the petition with the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board, said George San Mateo, Piston national president, during the weekly Fernandina forum in Club Filipino in San Juan City.
San Mateo refused to reveal the additional amount Piston would be seeking in the petition but said their group would ask for an “across-the-board” fare increase.
