2 fishers killed, brother wounded in Maguindanao shooting

COTABATO CITY, Philippines–Two fishermen were killed while another was wounded on Sunday morning when shots were fired at them while they were in their boat a short distance off the coastline of Parang town, Maguindanao, the police reported Monday.
The fatalities were identified as siblings Neris and Rene Bilbao. Their brother, Freddie, sustained a minor gunshot wound.
The three were in a small wooden banca when they were allegedly shot at by six gunmen positioned on the coastline of Polloc.
Inspector Alfredo Sangil, Parang police chief, said the assailants were armed with M-16 and Garand rifles as shown by the few empty shells recovered from the crime scene.
