San Remigio, Minglanilla, Lapu attacks

Gunmen kill 4 men, wound 2 others

Motorcycle riding gunmen killed four men and wounded two others in a span of eight hours in three separate shooting incidents in Cebu during the weekend.

The first attack happened at past 8 p.m. last Saturday in barangay Victoria, San Remigio town in northern Cebu.

A man posing as a delivery man of a courier firm, shot dead farmer Teodoro Remando, 53, and fisherman Rolando Dacayana, 49, inside their two-story house.

The gunman also shot and wounded Dacayana’s live-in partner Saladel Marianita, 32, and Remando’s grandson, Remando Jr., 17.

According to police investigation, Remando Jr., Dacayana, and Saladel were seated, watching TV at the living room when a man claiming to be an LBC courier arrived.

The man was looking for the elder Remando saying that he had a delivery for him.

The three victims called the elder Remando who was sleeping on the second floor of the house.

When Remando came downstairs, the man handed a fake receipt to the farmer, who went to the nearby table to  sign the receipt. But the man suddenly pulled out a gun and shot Dacayana in the head through the window. He then shot  Saladel, Remando Jr. and the elder Remando.

Remando Jr. sustained gunshot wounds in the face, neck and arm while the elder Remando was shot three times in the back.

Dacayana and Saladel survived the attack. The gunman who wore a full-face helmet and a black jacket fled on his motorcycle towards Tabuelan town after the attack.

Police were still investigating and pursuing the shooter.

Five hours later at past 1 a.m. in Minglanilla town, southern Cebu, an unidentified man was shot dead by two motorcycle riding assailants.

Residents in the area said they heard gunshots and saw two men on a motorcycle sped off. When they checked the area, they saw a man’s body with gunshot wounds.

Police described the dead man as between 30 and 40 years old, clad in blue short pants and a light jersey shirt with a “CCR Car Display 10” printed at the front of the shirt and “Marl Laurence” at the back.  The victim also wore white rubber shoes.

Police recovered two kitchen knives from the body and a slug of a .45 pistol.

Police were still investigating the shooting attack.

Three hours later at 4 a.m. in Lapu-Lapu City, two men on a motorcycle shot and killed Nonilon Presbitero Jr., 19, and a second year high school in front of his friends in barangay Poblacion.

Investigation showed that Presbitero of sitio Apitong was loitering at Punta Rizal St. when two men on a black motorcycle arrived.

The back rider pulled out a gun and shot the victim on the face. The assailants sped off after the shooting.

Presbitero was rushed to the hospital but he didn’t reach it alive.
