Tsunami warning for Philippines, Indonesia after 7.9 quake—NOAA

MANILA, Philippines—Tsunami warning was issued for the Philippines and eight other Asia Pacific countries after a 7.9 quake struck off central Philippines Friday night,  the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Friday.

A Tsunami Watch is in effect for Chuuk, Marcus Is., Kosrae, Pohnpei, Marshall Is., Wake Is., Solomon Is., Russia, and Nauru, NOAA said.

Waves were expected to hit the shores of Legaspi at 1338 GMT, Davao at 1340 GMT,  and Palanan, Isabela at 1353 GMT.
