Cesafi All-Star Team roster that faces PBA’s Petron on Sept. 9 to feature Cameroon rookies

By

The all star squad of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) that is set to do battle with the PBA’s Petron Blaze Boosters on Sept. 9 at the Cebu Coliseum has been finalized and is being led by two ace rookies from Cameroon.

Spearheading the team will be the University of the Visayas’ (UV) spry center Steve Cedric Akomo and Southwestern University’s (SWU) talented forward Ben Mbala.

The two are expected to anchor the middle when the Cesafi squad takes on the huge frontline of Petron, which is being led by former University of Cebu (UC) ace, two-time Cesafi MVP and this year’s top pick in the PBA June Mar Fajardo.

The roster was agreed upon during a meeting last Wednesday afternoon at the Cebu Country Club.

Comprising the team are UV’s John Abad, Eman Calo, Phil Mercader, Jerome Silva, Wowie Escosio and Rene Saycon, UC’s power guard Brian Heruela, the University of San Carlos’ wingman Mike Cantonao, Cebu Institute of Technology-University’s lithe forward Allen Dimco, the University of Southern Philippines Foundation’s sniper Joseph Sedurifa, SWU’s lefty Monbert Arong and the University of San Jose-Recoletos frontline of Abulaiz Suliman and Miguel Tabaloc.

In the three-point shootout, USJ-R’s Banjo Capilar will be back to defend his crown against Silva, Arong, UC’s Robinson Mohamad, USC’s Stephen Que, CIT-U’s Axel Rabaya and Sedurifa.

The high leapers will also get to strut their stuff as UV’s Andrew Avillanoza tries to defend his title against Escosio, Suliman, Calo and UC’s AJ Asis in the slam dunk competition.
