3 cops get P50T each

THREE Cebu City policemen who helped foil the Sept. 2011 armored car robbery in Robinsons’ Place yesterday received P50,000 each as cash reward from Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.

The junior officers figured in a shootout with a robbery group led by Junjun Cabando.

The robbers attacked an armored van delivering P1.2 million to a money changer in the mall. The money was recovered.

Rama also gave P200,000 to the Cebu City Police Office to be used for renovation of its headquarters. /CORRESPONDENT EDISON A. DELOS ANGELES

ARMY MAN NABBED

AN Army soldier was arrested after he allegedly mauled a 17-year-old boy in barangay Poblacion, Alcantara town, southern Cebu.

Police said CPL Richard Baracao, 32, a member of the 76th Infantry Battalion based in Catanauan, Quezon Province, was drunk during the incident.

Police said the mauling happened during a benefit dance at dawn last Sunday.

Police said it was not immediately known why Baracao slapped Louie Abonales during the disco. The boy ran but was chased by Baracao.

Cornered, the boy was allegedly hit thrice by Baracao in the head with a handgun.

The boy reported the beating to the Alcantara police precinct.

Members of the Alcantara conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the Army soldier. /CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

COUPLE FALLS IN DRUG BUST

A COUPLE was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Guizo, Mandaue City last Monday night.

Marcelino Ouano, 30, was arrested after handing a pack of suspected of shabu worth P200 to a poseur buyer.

Ouano’s live-in partner, Armalyn Mapait, 32, was also arrested after police found in her possession 12 small plastic packs believed to contain shabu. /CORRESPONDENTS FE MARIE D. DUMABOC AND NORMAN V. MENDOZA
