Car runs over man sleeping on the road
Cebu Daily NewsA DRUNK man who fell asleep at the center of the road died after he was ran over by a car in barangay Pandacan, Pinamungahan town, southern Cebu yesterday.
Police identified the fatality as 40-year-old Byron Cabante. They later arrested Rodolfo Manguilimotan, 64, the driver of the car, in Toledo City.
According to police investigation, a drunk Cabante, who was on his way home, fell asleep at the center of the road in barangay Pandacan at past 4 a.m.
He had no T-shirt on and was wearing only a pair of shorts when he was ran over by the Mitsubishi car driven by Manguilimotan on his way to Toledo City.
Bystanders rushed Cabante to the hospital but he didn’t make it alive.
Manguilimotan, who was arrested at past 5 a.m. in Toledo City, claimed that he didn’t notice Cabante sleeping at the center of the road.
