Tutor makes it two straight in CDU’s University Run

By

Cristy Sevellino-Tutor is proving her bid to reclaim her crown as Cebu’s best is still on the right track as she won anew in the University Run of the Cebu Doctors’ University yesterday at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

Tutor, who topped last year’s 21-kilometer, two-bridge challenge, showed her win there was no fluke as she conquered extra kilometers and an additional bridge to top the women’s 25k category.

Runners in the 25k category this year had to pass through another bridge—the Cansaga Bay Bridge— aside from the two featured last year, which were the Old Mactan Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

Tutor finished with a time of two hours, one minute and 30 seconds.

Kenyan Josphat Kiptanui topped the men’s race to win the title that was won by compatriot Abraham Missos  last year. He finished with a time of one hour,  30 minutes and 12 seconds.

Bonifacio Monjas placed second (1:33:19)  while Michael Largo settled for third (1:40:06).

Madelyn Carter  (2:04:29) and  Mary Jane Beboso (2:07:30) were second and third, respectively in the women’s side.

Meanwhile, triathlete Rochelle Tan topped the 13k category in one hour, six minutes and one second.

Donna Cruz-Larrazabal, wife of  organizer Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III,  came in at second (1:08:47). Emily Rosas (1:12 :16) finished third.

Jodell Batarilan won his first major running event as he topped the 13k men’s side (48:03)  followed by Joselito Cañete  and Sidrolito Salvador.

Winners in the 6k CDU employee category were Johnrey Arcadio and Jennifer Tapales. Ariane Veloso and Eunice Canalija finished first in the 6k CDU students category. Rhiel Samson and Kimberly Neagan finished first in the 3k students category
